Swapping Uppers ?
« on: November 27, 2023, 06:03:01 PM »
Tried searching but couldn't find the right description. Swapping 2 uppers (barrel and slide with matching numbers) on a PCR. Is it basically true that if it "Racks" and "Locks Up", it should be good to go ? If not, what else needs to  be checked ?

I've always "worried" about accelerating wear on the slide lock shaft when swapping barrels.

Each barrel may contact the shaft of the slide lock in a different spot and the shape of the contact surfaces is probably different one barrel to the next.

I do have an old P07 "upper".  I ordered a new slide stop to go with it.  When I run the 9MM top on the .40 frame I also use the "matching" slide stop.  That way the barrels wear against the slide stop shaft in the same spot all the time.  And wear in together.

Might not be anything to worry about but I know if you go into some machines and replace one piece both it and the pieces it connects to will wear faster than the other pieces that have worn together since start up.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?
