My wife is still getting comfortable with that new Equalizer. She did better today that she has so far. She's struggling with the attempt to make every shot perfect and stands there a long time sometimes with the gun up trying to will those sights into alignment with the target. Today I had her shoot two shots, put it on safe, lay it down on the bench, pick up empties, talk to me, etc., then pick it up and shoot the last three shots. That seemed to work today. She left happy.
I shot the Shield Plus with that 4" Shield PC slide/aftermarket barrel. Shot it using the iron sights (forgot to check them last time) and got lucky. No adjustment required.
I shot one 5 shot group with her Equalizer and I'm thinking it is good to go with the same ammo that shoots well in my CZ 9MM Pistols and my Shield Plus. One more trip and she can start carrying it instead of her Shield 9MM when she feels ready.
The really interesting targets were from the old 1.0 5" PC 9MM. It's never impressed me. Today it did.
The weird thing is the difference may have been just the bullets used. I have been loading 115 grain Precision Delta hollow points on top of Blue Dot powder for several years. Great stuff in the CZ 9MM pistols and the Shield 9MM pistols shoot them great, too. One time I ran out of them and ordered some 115 grain hollow ponts from Everglades Ammo (I think someone said they are made by the Zero Bullet Co.) I worked up the loads using those and ended up with great groups at the same Blue Dot powder charge and same overall length as when using the PD 115 grain hollow points. The CZ pistols don't seem to care which brand I shoot through them. As I'm digging into what may be the last of my Blue Dot charged 115 grain hollow points (Blue Dot has been OOS for months) I ran across a box of the Zero Bullet 115 grain hollow points. I loaded 5 of them into the magazine and put it in the 1.0 5" PC 9MM and shot them. First bullet was below the center orange dot. The next hole was just above the center orange dot (7 yds. off hand like all the other shooting we did today) and I was wondering were the rest were going. When I laid the pistol down my wife slapped me on the shoulder and said, "Show off!" I had to change glasses to see the target better and couldn't believe it. I grabbed some of the PD hollow points and loaded 5 of them into the pistol and got the usual group from it. I need to go out to the shed to see if I can find some more loaded 115 grain Zero Bullets or else see about buying some more and either waiting of the Blue Dot to show up or working up some loads with the AA#7, BE86, or the Shooter's World powder I bought last year.
