Trigger pull weight on a Shadow 2 SAO vs. DA/SA
« on: October 13, 2022, 09:12:01 PM »
What is the stock trigger pull on the Shadow 2 SAO? I have been trying to determine whether to go with a SAO or DA/SA. It's for fun not competition. I watched one video on YouTube where the guy was coming in at 3.4 on the SAO and 2.5 on the DA/SA model in single action mode. I didn't think that was correct but that's what he was getting with his gauge.

I don’t know what the stock pull weight is on a SAO, but my Shadow 2 DA/SA was around 8-ish DA and 3.5 SA when new.

Re-springing it and a light polishing (plus shooting several thousand rounds) and got it down to 6 lbs DA and 2 lbs SA.

If it is for range fun then I would go with the single action.
Inspect the pistol if you can before buying.

I recently bought 2 Shadow 2’s before the upcoming Canadian handgun ban. Using a Lyman gauge with the guns in a vice the stock DA/SA pull weights were DA 10lb 4oz and SA 4lb 0oz for one gun and DA 10lb 0oz and SA 3lb 12oz for the other gun.

Personally I would get a DA/SA as it can always easily be converted to a pure SA if desired at a reasonable cost and switched back if desired. With a Cajun Pro Kit in mine the DA is now 6lb 8oz and SA 2lb 12oz and the SA trigger is creep free and the break is superb.

Can the SAO be switch to a da/sa with a parts change? Also, is there any parts worth changing on the SAO for smoother action?

As advised above, I would go with DA/SA and convert to SAO if required.
I have owned multiple CZ SP01 Shadows, 4 of them, all DA/SA from factory, and one had a trigger pull of just under 3 lbs in SAO from factory. All others were 3.5 to 3.75 lbs when new.
After about 2k rounds, these came down in the region of 2.5 lbs, except one if them, which is shot under 1k rounds, and is still over 3 lbs.

I sold the first one that was under 3 lbs when new, but it was noticeably lighter, didnt measure when selling. It had about 1.5k rounds on it. I replaced it with a TS, and needed the cash.

It varies a bit from pistol to pistol.
Life is too short to waste on a bad trigger pull

Using a Lyman Electronic Trigger Pull Gauge, my CZ Shadow 2 SA measured 3.13 lbsf with a stddev of 1.74.  This is really a fantastic trigger on this pistol for a range gun.  Compare this to my TS which is at 1.81 lbsf @ 1.24 stddev.

Got a shadow 2 and put the czub single action trigger in it and removed the disconector. Stock trigger pulls we’re the same 8 double and 3.5 single.but with the czub. Curved single action trigger it felt less.polishing dropped it about half pound each. Worked well for target shooting . But for steel challenge went back to double action with. Cajun pro package .double at 7.5 single at 2.75 awesome!
