New to me Rami, question on defensive ammo
« on: November 23, 2022, 09:24:30 PM »
Recently picked up a Rami from a friend and love how it shoots. Prior owner replaced recoil spring among others. I replaced all the magazine springs with full size CZ 75 + 10% springs and replaced the stock trigger with a CZ 85 trigger.

Went to the range to test some defensive ammo and it did not like Sig elite V-crown at all (my usuall short barrel EDC ammo). The sig ammo has a shorter overall length than most fmj and other defensive ammo and the hollow point was hanging up on the edge of the feed ramp. No issues with several different brands of range ammo.  I have some gold dot 124 gr + p i will try next ramge trip but am curious what others are using when carrying.

Thanks, happy to be here

I use HST 124 in mine without issue.

My Rami also choked on the Sig V-Crown ammo but has no issues with 124gr +p Gold Dots.

There are numerous recalls and user complaints about SIG branded ammo. Apparently SIG opened their own ammo plant and the products have been less than stellar. So this is not some re-branded ammo they bought from Winchester or Fiocchi, this is a problem of their own making that is specific to SIG.

We have a list in the 'Stickies' of user approved ammo you might wish to print out and keep on hand.

Mine loves anything with Barnes 115 grain solid copper Tac X hollow points (Barnes, Black Hills, Double Tap, Cor-bon, etc. ammo).

Sometimes it helps to lightly polish the (pretty steep) feed ramp of the Rami with a felt Dremmel tool head.

The Recall Stickie also lists another SIG ammo recall.

My RAMI:

Gold Dot 124 gr. JHP
Gold Dot 124 gr. JHP +P
Remington 124 gr. BJHP
Hornady 124 gr. XTP JHP

All run perfectly and provide good accuracy

My ramp has been polished. This is more an issue of the hollow point catching on the edge of the feed ramp I believe caused by the shorter length round as it does not stick out far enough to clear the edge when loading.

That stickie is interesting but no specific info on the Rami.  The sig ammo runs fine in my SP-01, PCR and my P365 which is why I was curious what people were using in their Rami, not CZs in general.
