New Compact safety question
« on: December 11, 2022, 09:52:08 AM »
Just took possession of a new (made in 2022) Compact.  I noticed immediately that the safety position detents (safe or fire positions) seem very “soft”.  You can barely feel the position detents when you move it from fire to safety or the reverse.

I field stripped the gun and removed the grips.  After spraying Ballistol in the area of the safety, I blew it out with my air compressor thinking that a build up of grease was causing this.  It did mot seem to help the situation.

I really don’t want to send it back to CZ USA yet since I have not even been to the range yet.

Any thoughts?

I just found tons of information about this safety detent spring.  Looks like this soft, mushy safety has been an issue  for a number of years.  I see CGW has extra strength springs for $2.00.  I will wait until I want to order more items before I order several of these.

I would imagine that CZ USA would probably not want to change out a stock spring. I will call them tomorrow however to see what they say.

Don't know if any of mine are soft and mush or not.

Some people have complained that they feel their pistol's safety is too easy to move from safe to fire, or fire to safe.

As you found out, there are stronger springs for them.

There's another source for stronger springs that many here recommend but I'll be darned if I can remember the name of the company.  Members that have ordered from them say the got good service and the springs improved the feel/movement of their pistols safety.

Hopefully someone will chime in with their name soon.

I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

That's it.  Thanks.

The link didn't work for me but I went at it another way and just ordered a 10 pack of spares.  Price was good and I've got a "few" possible options that might need a new spring someday.  I'll put them in the CZ parts divider box with all the other parts I've bought and not had to use yet.  If I lived another 40 or 50 years I might end up needing some.
