P07 Front Sight Question
« on: February 25, 2023, 08:29:27 AM »
I ordered a new sight set for my 07 from CZ Custom, and noticed that my gold ring tritium front sight does not have a set screw like my current OEM sight. Should I be concerned about this issue? Here is a link to what I got for the pistol, and while it may seem odd that I went with a blacked out rear sight, I'm really like this better. Ended up going 6.0mm height.

The tall front sights Primary Machine installed in my P07 and P09 slides when the milled them for red dots 10 years ago don't have the set screws and have never budged/moved.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

You'll want the proper sight with the set screw. That sight is for the standard 75 series and while the dovetail is the same if it does not fit EXTREMELY tight it will fly away due to the style of dovetail used on the front. CZ added a set screw to the sights and a dimple in the slide on these guns for the simple fact that earlier guns that did not have them were loosing their sights.
If you choose to install that sight I would make sure it is very tight going in and also use red Loctite on it.

I was afraid of this, and may have to order a new front sight with the proper set screw. I guess I csn trade this one off at some point, so its not going to be a huge loss.

Forgot to ask, would a replacement front sight 6.5mm high and 3.1mm wide work well? I don't want to go too tall or short on height.

Why are you changing the height of the front sight? Have you changed the rear sight in any way? Is the gun not hitting where you think it should?

I'm not changing the height, I just want tritium in the front with a blacked out rear. This setup works very well for me. The blacked out rear is essentially the same as the stock sights, so I just need to know the height of the stock front sights so I can get the correct size.

You are messing with height. The first sight you ordered is 6.0mm and now you're asking about a 6.5mm front sight. The higher you go with the front sight the lower point of impact will become.
If you do not have the pistol in hand yet then you MUST wait till it arrives and measure the front sight BEFORE you order one. The factory front sight is numbered on the P-07/09 denoting different heights. I've seen guns with sight sights from 2-4 so as I stated you need to check that number and measure that sight beforehand.
I'd shoot it too before ordering a sight just to be sure you like poa/poi.

I just decided to order a set from night fision - frt (yellow tritium) and blacked out "U" notch.  Comes with set screws and easy to install  (CZU-076-007-YGZG).  I've swapped out the P-10c & S sights to night fision as well - I like them a lot (have them on SIGs too).
