1/100th of an inch - What a difference
« on: June 21, 2023, 02:02:37 PM »
I bought a P09 recently, and it had a really rough trigger, so immediately ordered the CGW Pro package (especially knowing how much it improved my P07). Unfortunately there was a minor packing issue and I got a .220” diameter roller bearing instead of the .230 I ordered (my stock roller is .230”). Of course CGW immediately made things right and shipped a replacement.
So I set that one aside and used a spare .220 roller bearing I had. The gun would not reliably fire in double action. I would pin the trigger all the way back and the hammer would not drop.
Then I installed the replacement .230” roller when I received it. Night and day difference. The double action is smoother and works every time. Amazing what a difference 1/100” of an inch makes.

Edit: Now this has my mind spinning. My P07 stock roller bearing had a diameter of .223 and I was told to order a .220 replacement. Is a .225 or .230 a better choice? Is more always better when it comes to roller bearings?

Doesn't CGW website say to round up rather than down?

Yes. But the tech person I spoke with at CGW told me to go with the .220” roller bearing.

In the machinists world (ex-CMM Programmer, etc.)... 10/1000ths - is the world!
