Brass Grips
« on: May 08, 2023, 03:32:02 PM »
Afternoon, I have a quick question about CZ Brass grips. I just picked up a used SP 01 at what I feel was a fair price marked as a year 14, looks like a safe queen. the person had placed cz brass grips on it and had told me the price he had paid for the grips. To me, they were too thin so I replace the original back on which were palm swell but were made of some sort of plastic, but fit my hand so much better. I will more than likely replace them with LOK"s. I guess my question was why the high price for CZ Brass.

Because people will pay that high price.

I won't and now have CZ rubber grips on all my CZs and couldn't ask for anything better.

It's for the folks that are competing in USPSA competitions.  They will use the heavy brass grips, brass gun mounted "flashlights", etc... to make the gun heavier to help reduce muzzle flip.  In some cases these bolt on devices do help folks manage recoil but not everyone will benefit from the increase in gun weight.

I'd argue that CZ's in 9mm are already very easy to shoot and manage recoil due to their all steel frames, low bore axis, and superb ergonomics.  If you have decent grip strength those bolt on weight additions will only slow down your transitions and not help your splits.

I don't know why they cost so much, I imagine it has to do with material cost and machining cost vs polymer options.  If they are deemed a competitive advantage they could be capitalizing on that and value pricing them to competitive shooters.

Cheers,
Toby

Yes, I sure do like the rubber grips that are on my po 1 Omega, they fit like they were made custom for me. Also, that is a good answer on the cost and also why some would prefer.  I may put Lok Bogie palm swell as I have on the Shadow 2 or may look at CZ rubber like the Omega. Thanks

if you like the weight of the brass grips you can get palm swell brass grips from LOK.
If I had known how much better being retired is than working I would have done it FIRST.
