P-10F today at 100 yards
« on: June 23, 2023, 05:02:26 PM »
I guess I am still a little partial to my P-09, but I've learned to shoot the P-10F pretty well.  Mechanically, it is almost as good as it gets.  The only mechanical problem I haven't figured out yet is how to sling shot the slide from a first round load and get the barrel to lock up in exactly the same position as for the recoil chambered rounds.  My first round will usually hit a little higher and a little left of the following rounds.  It is noticeable at 100 yards from a rest, otherwise, not an issue for a service gun.  But the gun is definitely tight and can be as accurate as any handgun I've ever shot, including some custom 1911 bullseye pistols.

I fired off 20 rounds at this target at 100 yards after sending the first round in the magazine towards a gong at 200 yards out.  I had loaded 13 rounds in the magazine, stopped at round 10 and loaded the remaining 8 so that I would not have any slide lock reload before getting in the 20 rounds.

I think nine 10 ring hits out of 20 shots at 100 yards is a pretty good day.  It was a perfectly calm morning, and I practiced the two days before to get my eye and trigger finger coordination back after many months of not shooting at all.

I struggled with the P-10S on Thursday, and decided not to shoot it today.  It probably just needs a good cleaning and some heavy grease.  I'll work on it next week.

Nice shooting Joe.  Do you have the Burris FF3 on the P-10F?  Also, are you shooting with the stock trigger?  Thanks.

Holosun 507C X2 on the P-10F OR, but still have the Burris FF3 on the P-09 and 97B"E".  And I have a Burris on the P-10C with a CGW slide cut.  I think I have a narrower 507K(?) on the P-10S.

The trigger parts for all three P-10 pistols are a CGW striker and 4# Glock spring and keepers, and some polishing on the disconnectors and trigger bar.

Six days later, 5000 ft downhill, 550 miles away from the target posted above, but same pistol, same ammo, same technique.  Shooter is getting back in to good form at 100 yards.  Two minute video.

I had to shoot the video at an angle due to lane availability and I missed the focus slightly.  I also cut some of the dead time between shots to keep the video at 2 minutes for 20 shots.  But this is a good result for me after a few hundred rounds since a 5 month or so layoff.
