CZ 75 Compact ambi safety??
« on: July 09, 2023, 10:53:16 AM »
I'm looking for this model with an ambi safety. Not a decocker. Does CZ make one? If not, can I buy one that I can add myself. I have an Accu Shadow 2 and an 85 Combat. Being a lefty, I need one!
Thank you!

Not sure any of the metal framed CZ75 Compacts had ambidextrous thumb safeties.

The P01 Omega pistols (aluminum frame, 9MM only) could be set up with ambidextrous safeties.

They do seem to make a limited number of compact pistols that look like the P01 pistols (aluminum frame with decocker) but have a steel frame and safeties on both sides.  Don't see them for sale very often.

There may be other discontinued "compact" models that had safeties on both sides, I've just never seen one.

The P07 is considered to be a compact pistol but it's a plastic frame, but you can set it up to have/use the ambidextrous thumb safeties.

The other pistol models with safeties on both sides of the frame are full sized models.

I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

I was hoping that I could order an ambi safety and install myself. If the compact version has the same width as the CZ75 and same trigger group, seems like the parts would be the same??

This is not as easy as you think, and an expensive mod.  You will need:

1.  Right detent
2.  "D" style ambi-safety (if you want to keep the current sear cage)
3.  Drill (enlarge) the existing hole on right side of the frame to accommodate
the new safety, as well as modifying the inside to retain the new detent (Pic 4).
Also, a circular indentation area to allow the safety to be flushed with the
frame, and movement to engage and disengage the safety.

For what it's worth, the CZ P-01 Omega has ambidextrous levers:safeties or de-cocker, as well as the CZ 75B Omega.
The CZ-SP-01 also has ambidextrous safeties.

The CZ model 99041, the steel frame P01, has an ambi safety. I believe 99041's are still made in batches and imported from time to time you just have to be patient to find one.

There is also a model (don't know the SKU off the top of my head) that also has/had a steel frame, single pic rail slot, and ambi safety (the frame is/was identical to the 99041) but is stamped "CZ 75 compact" on the slide, so yes technically an ambi CZ 75 compact does exist I just don't think they are common.

that would be the CZ  #99021. All of what you mentioned are not available or ever will be, other than used at a premium price.
