Question about Wells reloading dies
« on: December 27, 2023, 11:14:16 AM »
In the reloading set up that I purchased, there are several Wells reloading dies.

What can anyone tell me about them? Were they good quality in their time?

One of them is for 30–06.  It is missing the decaping pin. Any idea if any other brand pins would be able to be used in this die?

Thanks!!!

If it goes "boom" or "vroom" I'm intersted.

It looks like you have some vintage 50's or 60's dies made by Bystrom and sold by RF Wells I think they also had a connection with Herters.

There’s nothing particularly special or collectible about them. If you’re nostalgic or sentimental over old tools, then that’s a different matter.
Sometimes you can use the the shank of an appropriate size drill bit as a substitute.

Ok.  Thanks!

It is kind of neat how many old things are in these boxes.

Lots of old ammo boxes, a few old primer boxes (with a few primers in them).

The old Ammo boxes still have brass in them. Looks like the guy kept all of his brass in the ammo boxes, and used the boxes for his reloads. That way all the brass would be used the same. At least that’s my take based upon what I’ve seen.

Lots of old “western”  head stamped 38 special brass still in the “western “ boxes.
