DW DWX Compact vs WC EDC X9 Experior
« on: May 13, 2024, 09:57:58 PM »

Let me begin with I have 5 hi capacity 1911 guns.  The DW and the WC are by far the best of the 5.
I do like shooting my 5” steel Rock Island …. But it's a whole different type of gun.  The other two are a Springfield Prodigy and a EAA Girsan Witness (that I absolutely hate)

Let's begin, both are 4.25” barrels, no rail or optics mounted.  Neither gun has a grip safety.  Both are still exactly as they came out of the box.  Both were shot at least 200 rounds before I thought about comparing them.  Neither one is my EDC.  I've been carrying the same Sig Sauer C3 since 2009.

Size: both are pretty much the same size, the DWX  is 0.6 ounce heavier at 30.8 compared to 30.2.  The DWX is thinner and shorter.   The EDC X9 Experior has a thicker grips and a extended magwell that adds to the length of the grip.

Feel:  The DWX being thinner and more flat side doesn't feel as good in my hands as the EDC X9 Experior which feels like it fills my hands better than the DWX.  I will be looking for different grips with more of a palm swell fit the DWX, but my wife likes the DWX as it is due to it being thinner.

Capacity: Both come with standard 15 round massages.  My EDC X9 Experior came with 18 round magazines due to the extended magwell.  I can use magazines with more capacity in the DWX from my SP-01 Tactical.

Shooting:  I like shooting both. I haven't had any gun related issues with either one, I was having some issues with some remanufactured ammo, (I didn't realize it was when bought).  Have had zero issues with either gun with new manufactured ammo, ZQI, Magtech, WWB or PMC.  With defensive ammo I've used 147 WWB, Hornady Critical Duty, Critical Defense and Atomic Ammo.

Accuracy: I'll admit, they both are capable of better accuracy than I am.  They both are easy to shoot and come back on target quickly.  Ten rounds both slow and fast were equally accomplished.
I have a specific drill I have used a long time that goes from 3-21y at 3 yard intervals. 10 rounds at 3y into a 5x8 card, moving back 3y after each magazine. Unless you miss the card then shoot over until no misses.  Didn't have any problems with either gun running the drill back to 21y, total of 70 rounds thru each gun.

Holsters:  both fit the same holster without issues, the DWX was a tighter fit. And fit some of my older loose holsters well.  They both fit my Safariland ALS 1911 holster without issues as well even though it's for a 5” gun.
