I put 300 to 400 rounds through my P-01 since it's las cleaning and at the last shooting session the slide would not lock back reliably on the last shot so I figured that it was time to clean again. Otherwise function was 100%. I was shooting fairly low power ammo and figure this was a fairly benign failure. This is my primary carry gun.
• P01's are considered a self defense weapon and as such they expect you to be firing fairly potent SD ammo.
• It's the
ammunition that creates the energy, which ends up moving the slide to the "lock back" position.
• The slide's return spring and gun's hammer spring are what resist the rearward movement of the slide, ultimately slowing the slide before it arrives at the "lock back" position.
• From what you have posted, it seems you have 2 co-existing issues going on here...
1) IMHO you have created some of the issue yourself by using
low-power ammunition in a gun that is sprung with high-force springs. If that's the way you prefer to practice, then order something like a 14# slide return spring from
Wolff Gun Springs and slip that in at practice time.
Click Here.Fitting of a full-time reduced weight hammer spring might also be considered.
2) As noted in the FAQ section, new CZ pistols can require a break-in period which is generally considered to be 500 rounds minimum.
Click Here. Additionally, I recommend 1 drop of clean, light-weight, synthetic motor oil on each of the slide rails for metal handguns.
Hope this helps.
