1949 CZ (VZ) 27 question
« on: April 08, 2024, 08:17:51 AM »
Hello all,

I have a question about a post war CZ (VZ) 27.
I recently bought a 1949 CZ (VZ) 27 pistol.
Did the Czechoslovakian army (or any other Eastern Block army) use this post war version of the CZ (VZ) 27 pistol?

Regards  Martin

In general, if any branch of the military or other government agencies used it, there will be "proof marks" stamp on the frame of the pistol.  These can go as far as to contain, branch and unit numbers, especially in places like under the trigger guard.

If you post photos we can help you identify.

I find that the Tapatalk app (free) is the EASIEST way to post, letting you connect to the Forum, create posts and upload photos from your phone.  The free version limits you to 1 photo per post.  I've upgraded to be able to upload multiple at a time.

That is how I've been posting to the Forum for a long time.

Just be sure to read the "stickies" on posting and reduce the image widths to within the required limits.  The limits are set to make it easier for people to see without having to try to manipulate scrubber bars on your handheld portable devices.

Thanks for your reply rdcinhou.

I checked the pistol for markings on the frame (see picture). The only marking on the trigger guard is FWW. This is an abbreviation for "Frankonia Waffen Würzburg", the firm that imported the pistol from the Czech Republic.

I just want to know if this CZ27 was used in the Czechoslovak or another Warsaw Pact Army or........is this pistol produced for the civilian market only.

Thanks
Regards Martin

Per the Berger book, page 95  "NB" is the mark of "National Security, created 1945 includes all security forces".

In proximity to the Lion mark, this would be the original issuance and the "49" being the year of acceptance.

Here is a link to information on the NB (Národní Bezpe?nosti) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sbor_n%C3%A1rodn%C3%AD_bezpe%C4%8Dnosti

They were Army trained but functioned more like a National Police.
