Light primer strikes - cz shadow tac 2
« on: April 26, 2024, 05:27:35 PM »
I'm getting light primer strikes on my shadow tac 2.

https://cz-usa.com/product/cz-75-shadow-tac-ii-cz-custom/

I'm thinking I'll start at the firing pin and spring? I have about 10k rounds through it.

What firing pin and spring do I need for this model?

I'm curious why your getting light strikes?  Have you pulled the firing pin out and cleaned the channel?  Anything changed that would point to light strikes (lighter main spring, different ammo, different primer, etc...)?

It is listed as having a lighter spring package so I'm guessing you already have an extended firing pin in the gun.  If you pulled it out and measured it you can confirm.  There are threads that have the various extended pin lengths documented if you do a search.

I could just be time to do a annual/major maintenance and replace springs.  I'd replace the recoil, main, trigger return, and sear spring.  Do a deep clean, lube, and reassembly.

To answer your question, it is a firing pin for a shadow series, it doesn't have a firing pin block.  If you want to replace the firing pin with another extended firing pin you can run the 13lb main spring.  Otherwise a stock firing pin will require a heavier >15lb main spring and that will increase your DA trigger pull.

Cheers,
Toby

whats the amm/primer?
Tac2 was set up with 13# mainspring, extended FP and Rami FP spring.
might try 14# main, or go to the CZC light FP spring.

• I would check the cleanliness of the firing pin and FP channel first.

• It's an established fact that Federal primers are softer/easier to ignite than other brands. Did you recently change from Federal ammo to something else ?
