I’m interested in getting a Tanfoglio (steel) Compact in 10mm, but they seem to be unobtainable at the moment. Oddly enough, there are tons of the (heavy) steel Compacts in 9mm and maybe in other calibers for sale.

Just wondering if Tanfoglio makes or ever made a kit to convert a 9mm, .40 or .45 steel Compact to 10mm, if that’s possible.

Thanks!

Conversion kits in all Calibers were available for Large Frame Tanfoglio Pistols.
While they are still being made, they may not be imported into the USA, as they did not have as much of a Market for them in the USA, unlike Europe.
Your only recourse here would be to contact Tanfoglio directly through the IFG Website and see if they have any of the Caliber Conversion Kits for the
Large Frame Compact.

Thanks for that info!

Yes, I will email the IFG about the conversion kits. They’ve been very helpful with my inquiries on both FK Brno and Tanfoglio pistols.

Is the “Compact” steel frame Tanfoglio considered one of their “large frame” pistols?

Is the “Compact” steel frame Tanfoglio considered one of their “large frame” pistols?

And here is where all the Large Frame/Small Frame confusion comes in.

There have have been importations of Compact Tanfoglio Pistols using both Large Frame AND Small Frame versions of their Pistols.

Back when EAA was the sole importer of Tanfoglio Pistols, EAA Management decided to import only the Large Frame Versions of Tanfoglio Pistols.
Also, they decided to switch Magazine Suppliers from Mec-Gar to Sabatti. Read lowest bidder here. What followed was a string of angry
customers, whose Pistols did not feed and it was a real mess! EAA lost a lot of customers to Sarsilmaz, whose Small Frame Tanfoglio Clones worked
and worked very well.  Trouble for you here is that Sarsilmaz has yet to play in the 10mm Pond.

Also, the Large Frame Tanfoglio Pistols gave up direct compatibility with Mec-Gar Cz75B 17 and 19 round Magazines.
Mec-Gar was brought back in to straighten out the designs and QC problems, but a lot of damage had been done.
EAA later dropped the Tanfoglio line, which is how we got IFG.

Sorry for the history lesson, but I needed to provide context.

As far as I know, IFG/Tanfoglio only imports the Full Size and Compact Small Frame Pistols in 9mm and maybe .40 S&W.
Full Size Large Frame Pistols are imported in 10mm, .38 Super, and .45 ACP.

What I would do If I were you, is try to find a good used Compact .45 and get IFG/Tanfoglio to sell you a Compact 10mm Conversion kit for it.

You could also buy a Full Sized 10mm and put a Compact 10mm Conversion Kit on it, giving you a nice Mid-Sized Pistol.

Thanks again for that info!

To add more confusion, EAA calls their current Turkish 1911 clone “the Witness” - same as their Tanfoglio CZ75 clones - idiots!

I’m not seeing any steel Compacts in .45 or .40 for sale, either. Plenty in 9mm, though, which doesn’t make any sense since they compete directly with the lighter CZ75 compacts.🙄

This is going to be a process. Not sure why Tanfoglio isn’t importing their steel 10mm Compacts right now. If all else fails, though, I can pick up a polymer model as there are tons of those around, though I prefer all-metal.
