Sear set screw worn out a lot!?
« on: February 22, 2025, 07:40:48 PM »
Hello everyone, I hope everyone is doing well

I was just cleaning my shadow to today and noticed the set screw for my shadow to sear it’s pretty worn out. I’m not sure how I didn’t catch it before. I just happened to see it today. There is no scratches or any sign of use on the slides side of my gun but the screw is worn out to a point it’s very sharp and pointy.

I will reach out to CGW on Monday to get a replacement set screw but I wanted to know what would’ve caused this so I can avoid this in the future
??

I am trying to attach a photo to this thread, but I’m not too sure how to attach it if somebody can guide me I would love to attach a photo below

Thank you for all of your help in advance

You have to host the image elsewhere and link to it here.  The forum doesn't host images directly.

I'm guessing it's the top of the set screw that is worn, with the hex/allen?  It must be rubbing under the slide?  Does your thumb ride under the safety lever when shooting?  I wonder if your are pushing up on the safety during firing and that is pushing the sear leg up?

Cheers,
Toby
