Classifieds section limited to one page
« on: January 07, 2025, 10:13:13 PM »
Am I the only person who only sees one page of classifieds.  Just wondering if there is a reason or setting that’s causing this.

It’s a riddle, wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma…you’ll have to ask a mod here to explain it.

Well because that's all there is listed at this point. Also listings that stagnate for 30 days are removed I believe. There's an entire section in that section that explains how the classifieds work. Read this:  https://czfirearms.us/index.php?topic=43717.0

Thanks for the explanation and link.   Miss the way it used to be but I guess things change for a reason.

Already asked and answered. As previously posted....

Quote
There used to be 6 or 7 pages of Classifieds. A lot of the posters hadn't been to the CZF for 6+ months (some in over a year), so ads weren't being maintained. People were asking questions and not getting answers. But every time you posted a question the old ad got bumped to the front, so it got to be a real mess.

See: https://czfirearms.us/index.php?topic=120684.0

The users/members here voted to limit ads to 30 days. So that's what we did. Yes, we only have 1 page of ads, but they are real ads and the posters are attentive and answering questions.

So the question back to you is... do you want 6 or 7 pages of fake ads (scams, items already sold, ad where the seller hasn't even logged on in 18 months), or would you rather have 1 page of real ads ??

I understand your point. While I like to be able to look at past ads to help determine market value before selling/buying, I see how that could be cumbersome to manage and view.

The best gauge of market value is the sold section on Gunbroker.

Just because an item sold, doesn't mean it sold at the asking price. There's no mechanical means to post the actual selling price like there is on eBay or GunBroker.

"Cumbersome" doesn't begin to explain the complexities. Are you volunteering to log-on twice a day and manage that mess ? Dealing with scammers. Finding "members" who haven't logged on in 18 months. Getting cursed at for removing someone's 13 month-old ad. Having to tell people their ads don't meet the CZF specs because THEY didn't bother to read our rules? Then finding a pleasant post in the General Section calling you the "Gestapo" because you had to take one of the above actions.

Cumbersome is not the exact word that comes to mind.
