Weird P01 problem....

Range trip was good today and the Po1 shot well, EXCEPT that while the slide lockback was fine, it ONLY releases with the slide stop.  You cannot 'rack' overhand to release the slide.  It satys LOCKED - you must use the slide stop. 

(I don't like the overhand method, but I need to be ABLE to do it).   

Ideas?  Maybe the SS is out of spec...

It will stay locked open unless you remove the empty Magazine.

Please tell me this is happening without a magazine inserted and/or with a loaded magazine inserted.

Does the slide stop move freely? Does the slide stop spring seem to have proper tension? Any burrs on the slide stop, the slide, or anywhere on the frame that would hang it up? Do you have the empty mag out or a loaded mag inserted when this happens? Need more info.
