CZ Shadow 2 Carry's Big Brother?
« on: April 29, 2025, 08:55:24 PM »
SORRY ABOUT THE CONFUSION.  I MEANT TO REFER TO THE SHADOW 2 CARRY, NOT SHADOW 2 COMPACT

Was cruising through the internet when I saw a review of the new Shadow 2 Compact Carry (what I meant to say) that had just been released.  About that same time, the doorbell rings and my CZ 75 SA's slide was dropped off by the mailman.  I put a Holosun 507K with the green Vulcan reticle on the slide and then put the gun back together.  I had a chance to run some rounds through it this morning and I'm very pleased.

I used Wager Machine Works to do the optics cut - fast turn around time (11 days), very reasonable price ($140 which includes shipping both ways), and excellent work.

Even though it's a little larger than the compact Carry, I find it a little easier to carry since it doesn't have the light rail.  If you want or need (like I do due to failing eyesight) an optic on your CZ, I highly recommend Wager Machine Works.  Just another option to the Shadow 2 Compact Carry plus you'll save some money if you use a gun you already have.

Love it!
Building a cz 75 I picked up cheap into a SA now. A buddy is milling the slide for a Delta Point Pro. Plan on Cajun SA parts and a two tone cerakote. I have been looking for an oversized safety and was wondering where you got yours?

My SA came with it.  Mine is actually a SA/DA.  I used Cajun’s parts to convert it although I kept the factory mainspring. The Cajun reduced power spring reduced the DA/SA trigger pulls to 7# and 3# which I thought was a little too light for me in an EDC gun.  The factory mainspring gives me 10#/4.5# trigger pulls, which I’m a lot more comfortable with.

Just be careful with an extended firing pin and stock main spring.  CGW recommends a max main spring of 15lbs with the extended firing pin.  I'm not positive on the reason but hypothesize it is due to the risk of primer piercing.

Toby

Thanks for the heads up.  The one I took out of my gun is blue, which I think is their 13# hammer spring.  Need to go through my parts box to see if I have a gold 15# hammer spring.  If not time to order a couple.

Regards,
Pete

If you’re going to use the oem main spring, just put the oem firing pin back in.

Called CGW and spoke to Jacob.  He confirmed what tdogg said.  The factory hammer spring with an extended firing pin could lead to a pierced primer.  He also explained that the hammer spring doesn't really affect SA trigger pull, only DA.  If I wanted to increase SA trigger pull with one of their kits, make sure I was using the included extra heavy firing pin block plunger spring.  I'm sure that's somewhere in the installation instructions but I missed it.  My reading comprehension was never that great in school.

You can also install a heavier sear spring or a heavier trigger return spring as well.

You may also just want to just try out the CGW package.  It may grow on you and is 100% safe and reliable.

The 75 Compact doesn't have a light rail. They made some like that for a while, but I've only seen a few used in .40 S&W since becoming CZ-aware in 2012.

Your brown-on-black color scheme looks good. Do you know the brand and model of your grips?

I, too, would like a large safety lever, but am concerned about how it will carry. How does yours carry? Holster?

"The 75 Compact doesn't have a light rail. They made some like that for a while, but I've only seen a few used in .40 S&W since becoming CZ-aware in 2012."

I originally meant to compare my Holosun CZ75 full size to the new Shadow 2 Carry.  Unfortunately, I got it confused with the Shadow 2 Compact.  Appears to me that both the Shadow 2 Carry and Shadow 2 Compact have rails.  Sorry about the confusion.  But it is nice to have choices.

"Your brown-on-black color scheme looks good. Do you know the brand and model of your grips?"

They are LOK CZ 75 Grenades - brown/black standard thickness.

"I, too, would like a large safety lever, but am concerned about how it will carry."
As mentioned before, my gun is a CZ 75B SA that I converted to SA/DA with Cajun Gun Works internal parts.  My gun came with ambidextrous large safety levers.  I have two SA conversions and they both came which the large abmi safeties.  When I do carry, I carry with the hammer down on a round in the chamber, so the safety should not be a factor.

"Holster?"
I just got the gun back from Wager Machine Works.  So in the mean time, I'm using a Stealthgear IWB that I modified to clear the optic until I can find a more suitable one.  I normally carry with the holster inside my belt but outside my pants.
