NICKEL FINISH ON CZ 75 TACTICAL SPORT
« on: March 09, 2007, 06:27:52 PM »
I can't seem to get a clear or good description of the finish on the 75 Tactical Sport.  It's not described on the CZ website.  The best pictures I've downloaded show what appears to be a grainy or sandblasted look to the finish as opposed to a "satin" or "smooth" finish.  The pictures and description of the 75 Champion clearly show and state a "durable satin nickel finish."  Is the finish on the TS the same as the finish on the Champion?
Thanks,
Joe G.

that the finish on my Tac Sport is an appied (spray on) finish.  I have been wondering about this since I brought the pistol home!

The inside of the dust cover of the frame is definately a different color/finish that the outside of the frame.  I will try to get some digital photos of this for you.

CZ has used a plated finish on the satin nickel guns, but was experimenting with a silver polycoat finish, too.  I wonder if they're using silver polycoat on some models, now?

Thanks Bob
I sent an email to CZ Corporate and asked them if the finish on the TS is the same as the finish on the Champion.  The rep replied that they were the same.  And, the Champion is advertised on the CZ website as having a "satin nickel finish".
Yet, every picture of the TS that I've seen appears to be a grainy or specular look.  Nothing like what I've seen on the Champion.  Maybe just bad photography.

The finish on the TS frame is silver paint with a flat finish.  It is pleasantly rough to the touch.  Definitely not a plated finish.

What does it say on the box?  (That's usually an accurate description of the finished used.)

Well, I finally got the answer on the finish of the TS.  I called CZ in Kansas.  Contrary to what they said in their email reply, the finish on the TS is NOT the same as the finish on the Champion.  The TS has a silver polymer coating which yields a "specular" looking finish.  Sounds like nothing more than a hi-tech paint job to me.  The Champion has a smooth "electroplated nickel" finish.  The TS used to be nickel plated but they stopped doing that on the TS about 2 years ago.  I asked why?  The idot replied "we have the right to make any changes we want without advance notice to the consumer."  This guy had the personality of a "clam at low tide".  I told him "HAVE A NICE DAY" and hung up!

Hey ya go!

These photos are meant to show that the paint on the outside does not match the finish on the inside.

Thanks Bob.  You basically cleared up all my confusion and confirmed that the finish is a polymer coating and not an electroplated nickel.
