This seems to be a common/frequent problem for some shooters who use contacts.   One of the reference sources I read says it's caused by the contacts moving around, and NOT staying in one place.

You might want to talk with your optomitrist/opthamalogist about this -- or consider going back to glasses when you shoot.  Maybe a diferent type of contact will help resolve the problem.

(My opthamalogist just prescribed a new set of shooting glasses for me.  The left lens set for distant vision [I'm right eye domnant] and the right lens set to focus roughly in the location of the front sight.  I hope to get the prescription filled in the next week or two...  Others who have used this special set up say it takes a little getting used to, but works really well.)

thanks walt ,

im ok when i go to the range coz i usually just use my eyeglasses. however, im more concerned w/ real life situations if im wearing my contacts. i have been practicing w/ it, but i have to close my left eye to hit anything. my opthalmogist said, it needs time to be acclimated. however, its been 4 mos. . i do wear my contacts not that often. maybe that's the reason i havent acclimated yet.

Take the advice of your doctor.  I wear contacts, on occasion, and sometimes have similar problems when shooting.  If you are in a defensive situation, wearing your contacts, just close your non-dominant eye.  Not the absolute best way to shoot, but it beats not hitting the target...

I've been wearing contacts since 83 and I usually wear them when I shoot. They can give you problems at times but then so can glasses. If you wear the contacts infrequently, it will take longer for your eyes to get used to them. Try wearing nothing but contacts for several weeks and see how that works. If they still give you problems then go back to the doctor and have them try a different style or size.

Walt, the contacts have to have some movement, if they are too tight they will dry out and things will get really bad. I've been through that myself.

I practice both with my contacts in and with my glasses on, because I alternate between them at times depending on the job I have to do that day.

Good luck.
