Considering SP-01 for USPSA Production division primarily, but will likely use for Limited on occassion.  I understand either can be used in both divisions.  Any advantage to the 1/2 *!!% starting position with the decocker in Production vs. the manual safety having to fully lower hammer?  Thanks,

If you plan to use it in Limited on occasion then starting with a manual safety on and first shot single action is obviously be more beneficial and consistent than starting with the hammer at half $*@# or decocked.

Also, if you plan to get a trigger job done by a qualified gunsmith, many seem to prefer to work on the manual safety models versus the decocker/tactical models.

Other than that it may be just up to you and your personal preference.

Matt Mink and others have also noted that it's no big deal to lower the hammer on a manual safety model for the first shot double action in production division.  I shoot with a manual safety model and just try and be careful.

I'm new to USPSA and start my second 7-wk 'league' this month. I shoot the 75B, production.  It was pointed out to me that USPSA rules require "fully" decocked for first round.
I have small hands and would much prefer the 1/2 cocked position.

According to USPSA Rule Book 2008 8.1.2.2 Ready condition Double action :  Chamber loaded, hammer fully down or decocked.

If your gun has a decocker, then you use it, the hammer does not have to be fully down.

Slim grips and the original factory trigger have helped my smaller hands for a better grip.
