bad mags?
« on: October 10, 2008, 04:15:18 PM »
I've been having some feeding problems, especially w/ certain bullets.  I've noticed that when I load some of my mags the cartridge doesn't sit straight; it's pointing up and at a little bit of an angle.  If I apply more pressure to the mag spring it straightens out.  Anyone know anything about this?

Get some replacement mag springs from Wolff (www.gunsprings.com).  They have +5% springs which work very well.  (Look under the EAA section on their site.)

I've seen the wollf plus 15 magsprings are they okay for a shadow or would they be to heavy?

I'm unfamiliar with a +15% spring.

And I'm unfamiliar with the newer 19 rounds mags.  But all of the other full-size mags use the same springs.  You'll have to ASK ANGUS (here on the forum) or CZ about which springs (and which weight)to use ith Shadow mags.

(If they're the 15 or 16 round mags, I would be wary of more than the +5 spring weight.  An extra 10% isn't going to give you more durability, and it's going to make the mag hard to load and strip, even when the gun is doing the stripping. )

I just found out on the wollf site that the +10% in only the cz 75 = +15%
And I have noticed that with my cz 10 rounders with new regular cz springs, that when the mag is full and I remove the rounds with my hand one by one that there doesn't seem to be much presure on the rounds, untill about I get 5 rounds out of the mag then the rounds seem to have good presure on them.
It almost seems that they are binding as I load the mag past 5 rounds?
Any comments Please!  :)

if you suddenly gain good spring pressure after removing some rounds, either the spring is seated incorrectly against the base or follower, the magazine may be dirty, or if you handload - one of your cartridges might be too long. i've had that problem before, and it's been caused by all of the above at different times.

Thanks for the info ,mags clean, not sure about what length the bullets are suppose to be? the mag bases have the metal retainer and was not sure if the spring was to be clipped on to the retainer lip?
the mags do rattle when they are full at 10 rounds
