cz 85 and a lefty
« on: January 04, 2009, 10:47:17 PM »
Hi all!
Just joined your forum and have been reading and learning lots already. I am curious as to who uses what holster with the cz 85 (pre B) and is left handed. I know its a personal thing but info is appreciated.  I am looking to try production level and need holster/mag holders etc. for IPSC.

 Cheers

Try Angus's site -- CzCustom.com -- he should have some Right Minded Bladetechs.  They work great for USPSA production division.  I got my LH Bladetech DOH for a SP01 from him couple summers ago.

Also if you are thinking about getting a SP01 or a .40 cal CZ75 in the future, you might consider getting one that fits one of those models instead of one for a CZ 75/85 in 9mm.  The 9 mm gun will fit well enough in a holster for a SP01 (with little tightening of the screws) but the slides for SP01s and .40 cal guns are not scalloped on the front and may not fit in a holster specifcally made for a standard 9mm CZ 75/85 slide.

If he does not have any in stock, I am sure that Bladetech or any other reputable Kydex holster maker will be able to bend one for you in a few weeks.

Make sure that you have a good sturdy belt to hang that holster.  A flimsy belt will give you ief no matter how good of a holster you may have hanging off of it.

Finally, if you are starting out in IPSC, don't go overboard on gear until you've shot a few matches.  Lots of ammo, eye and ear protection, a decent Kydex holster and mag pouches for 5 or more magazines hanging off of a decent belt is all you really need to get started.

Thanks for the tips.  I have purchased a Bladetec holster and good CR Speed velcro belt.  Also have now got 4 mags and holders(Safariland).  This should be enough to get started.  I am really looking forward to the Black Badge course at end of Feb so I can get into some competitions.  Have been practicing with the 85 and am liking it more every time out.

Cheers
