Dern good year. Is it normal for this year range to not have “Made In Czechoslovakia” on the frame?

1980 was the first year of the "2nd generation" where the frames were indeed made in Spain. The frame was also beefed up a bit (the narrowed front part was reworked) and also there should now be a safety notch. In regards to checkering this is a bit hard to say, especially since yours may be one of the first gen. 2 batch.
