CZ Omega Trigger System
« on: April 30, 2009, 09:54:49 AM »
I wrote CZ UB and asked if they were going to install the Omega trigger system in their entire line of pistols.  Here is their reply.

Dear Sir,
I can inform you that there are plans to integrate the Omega trigger system in most of our models, but this will take some time. Nevertheless, there are models where the Omega trigger system will never be used and this pertains especially to the Shadow model.

Yours faithfully,

glad to hear they won't mess with the Shadow.
USPSA says the gun isn't legal for production..because the new trigger system is a significant change that the 75B Omega would need to be submitted for approval.

eerw have you seen the new trigger system?   I was wondering if it is an improvement over the old system or just a cheaper way to mass produce the pistols.

Canuck44 I am not happy about the letter that CZ-UB sent you. I found it disturbing their statement "there are plans to integrate the Omega trigger system in most of our models". Just how far into their line do they plan to integrate the Omega trigger system. I would like to see more testing done.

I have looked at it..haven't had a chance to actually tear one apart and do anything to one..
it uses a modified Shadow hammer, so with the shorter hammer hooks the single action let off is crisper with no camming..so that is an improvement.
the DA feels different..but I think that is the letoff as the disconnector and the FPB lever are in line with each other and not side by side like the std version.
from photos I have seen..I think the amount of travel to reconnect can be shortened. not sure if that is better than the std version..certainly not better than the Shadow/85 combat.

overall..it has fewer small parts, and the system offers changeability between decocker and safety. from reading ..it sounds like one weakness might be the trigger bar spring with non-factory spec mags ( new style MecGsar AFC mags ) but I haven't had one to play with ..only in the store.

As you can see the author did not elaborate.  That said, the system is now being used in the 75B I believe.  I would assume the system has been fully tested and found to meet the high standards CZ sets with their pistols.

eerw and Canuck44 thanks for your prompt answers to my question. I just hope CZ is replacing the present trigger with someting better and not worse. Sometimes change is not for the best. Only time and testing will tell.

Thanks,
