SA trigger install problems
« on: May 21, 2012, 07:15:19 PM »
I'm putting a CZ-Custom SAO trigger into my CZ75B Compact and having some problems...

I can get the trigger installed fine, but the trigger bar seems to ride up in the frame - the nubs on the trigger bar actually stick up just above the slide rails. I am trying to avoid removing the disconnector as well. If I put the sear cage back in, and apply pressure to the hammer, the trigger doesn't function at all. Pre and over travel screws are put at their lowest positions.

Am I putting the trigger bar in wrong? Or something else?

EDITEDITEDIT: Between this and my CGW installation, I've boned up the trigger group VERY good. The safety turns on whether the gun is cocked or not (though it does work), and now the gun will drop the hammer from a half-cock, and has a second half cock position now too a little further in, but from there it cocks the hammer the rest of the way and drops it.  :o

editxinfinity: I put the original trigger in. Everything functions fine, except for the safety still always activating. Ugh.

The manual safety operates differently with a CZ Custom Shop Comp hammer, a CZ Shadow hammer, or a CGW Shadow hammer.  The sear safety leg geometry changes when you use these hammers and you can apply the manual safety in the half-cock position.  This is normal.

As far as the SAO trigger, you may need to take some pics of how you have it attached to the trigger bar and how the trigger bar is being oriented when you attempt to install it.  Hopefully the trigger bar support spring has not been damaged or bent during the install.  This could cause some issues.

You may need to install everything except the SAO trigger and confirm everything is working properly, then do the SAO trigger install if you have not already done so.

Thanks for the advice -

I can activate the safety while it is completely decocked. Is this normal still, or should it only be able to go on at full or half-cock?

I also pulled the trigger out, and swapped it for the stock recurve trigger. No issues in that set-up. I had all of the set screws turned in completely, for what it's worth. I can get some pictures if you need - I don't THINK i'm installing it on the trigger bar wrong, but you never know...

Yes on being able to apply the safety with the hammer all the way down, this is normal as well.

Alright - one "problem" down!

I will take some pictures of the trigger bar/trigger assembly tomorrow, as well as how they are sitting in the frame. I didn't force them out/back in, so I doubt I damaged anything...everything works with the stock trigger too. Sigh.

Apologies for the double post.

I took some pictures of my trigger/bar assembly, as well as some with it in the pistol. I apologize for the quality - if there is any details I should focus on, I will take better ones as needed.

(Answered on BE.com)

just my guess.

half cock..normal. hammer will fall if you pull the trigger.

your second click position sounds like the trigger bar resetting the disconnector. from there it would push the hammer back until the disconnector slide off the trigger bar. This is probably because without the  pretravel  adjustment in your trigger is coming forward enough to do so. take out your disconnector and try it again.

full cock is working fine.
