STEEL in CZs

I think they tried to copy the look of the P210 in the rear of the slide. Conscious on their part. Other than that I agree sounds and looks more CZ than Sig. DA/SA etc. Though in the article Westrom is quoted directly making the comparison with the P210 at least in regard to producing a pistol with classic lines. Part of marketing the new gun. Given their reputation it should be an interesting gun.

Just about all the crap you here about forging v. casting is marketing hype.  In terms of firearms frames and slides, forging does not yield a superior part.  When done correctly there is absolutely nothing wrong with casting.

Another article in the latest, if I remember right, Handguns mag by Charles Petty. Based on the same interview with Westrom. Armalite's marketing is targeting the CZ. It goes like this: Our gun is similiar to the early CZs built with good steel unlike the CZs of today.

So we'll hear more on CZ steel.

Aren't the Armalites just rebadged clones that Sarsilmaz has been making for years?

Yep, pretty much, possibly a couple of changes. The most important one being Armalites name on them. They have been made in Turkey for a few years now.

Springfield did the same with the XPD, the Croatian gun which had been around for awhile. Springfield put their name on them and some marketing savvy behind them, targeted Glocks and Sig position in the market and has made inroads. Armalite hopes to do the same with this gun targeting CZs place in the market.

A person looking at a CZ now has another choice. They can get the Armalite gun. Why pay the extra cash? Cuz it's made of "better steel" than the CZ. It'll also make their breath "minty fresh".

Yeah, the better steel is important because CZ slides, frames, and barrels fail all the time.  :rolleyes

Now if the hammer and sear are made from something better, that may get my attention.

Ya - its a shame no one can even use CZ pistols to shoot in competition because they are so soft and fragile - girly pistols!  Ya?

(Now, say that with an Austrian accent, and you get the point!)
