P-07 - Decocking Lever
« on: November 08, 2009, 03:55:39 AM »
Hi there

this is my 1st post on the cz-forum as i recently got a p-07 - have fired bout 1000 rounds thru it without any problems - great piece by CZ - i only have one problem - i prefer the decocking mechanism - but it came with the safety lever installed and there is no decocking lever in the box - any idea where i can buy the decocking lever?

thanks

Did you buy it new or used? In any case, call 1-800-955-4486, press 2 for parts, ask for Adam or Justin, and they will hook you up. The deocker is not hard to install, but I reccomend you have one of them talk you through it when you get the parts - there's a spring that's tricksy...

No sir, that was supposed to come with it last time I checked, call CZ-USA on Monday morning, and they will get that squared away. Adam or Justin will get you taken care of!

Not yet, we need to have one of our movie savvy members whip one up. I had one of the guys at CZ-USA walk me through it on the phone.

You can reverse the procedure in this thread.

Let us know how ya did.  I like the decocker installed.  I know a couple of people will not have a pistol without a safety, but this is great.  Ready to go with a pull of the trigger.

Madmax, the decocker is supposed to be installed at the factory and the thumb safety is  in the box for after purchase modification. I think your dealer screwed with the gun or sold you a used one and asked a new price.. My advice is to avoid this dealer in the future as they are less then honest/trustworthy.

Donnis, the trigger is quite ready to go with thumb safety too, just a matter of proper training. Some of us have it, some of us don't. :D  I was never really sure why the decocker became such a popular item, it just makes the first shot so much more difficult and the first shot is the one that counts the most. I can use both but still prefer condition one carry. Also the DA restrike ability is not really needed if modern Tap Rack Bang malfunction drill is followed. DO you really want to try to set off a defective round a second time or would you prefer a fresh round? The primary safety mechanism is always the one between the ears anyway.

Good points.  Just a matter of preference I guess.

The safety vs. decocker argument will go on for as long as they both are out there. CZ, thankfully, answered everyone's desire with one pistol...how cool is that??!!

turns out that i got screwed - the piece i got wasnt new (as Czprime suspected) as i noticed that that little metal tube into which you put the big leg of the decocker spring is cracked and big piece from the top to the bottom seems to have broken off - so basically the spring will always just pop out - thats why it came with the safety installed and also why the dealer who sold it to me is fobbing me off about getting the decocker parts - he knew that decocker would not work - anway going to return it asap and demand a completely new one which should have the decocker installed and the safety in the box and ill strip the piece to make sure its not another dud - was really pissed off >:( - how can some people be so blatantly dishonest  O0 - unfortunately im not in the states and we dont really have much choice here in terms of firearm dealers - so not good news

Sorry to hear you got the bad end of the deal.  Hopefully it can be made right for you.  Honesty is a rare trait in the business world, ethics beingn taught now are profit above all else. Always remember the roman adage, Caveat Emptor - Let the buyer beware.
