Factory grip screw length?
« on: February 08, 2007, 01:44:46 AM »
Can anyone tell me the overall length of a factory grip screw for the 75B?

I am exchanging 75B Mil anatomic grips for standard plastic panels, and the screws are too long - touching the mainspring.  I will be shortening them to spec (or replacing them if possible locally).

Thanks for any help,

M 3.5mm diam x 8mm long

I have an ad (page 2 or 3 maybe) selling stainless slotted screws for $1 + self adress stamped envelope.  Hogue sells black slotted screws for CZs too.

Wow thanks for the quick reply!

I may take you up on your offer.  Your ad is on page 2 or 3 of what publication?

Thanks,

Is that 8mm the over-all length or the thread length?  I just measured these screws at 8mm thread length.

Can anyone verify if the CZ75B Military comes with standard screws?  When I install the thinner standard plastic panels, these screws nearly touch the mainspring.  Is this normal?

Thanks again,

In your first post you said they did touch the mainspring and your most recent one says they nearly touch it.

Which one is it?  If it nearly touches the spring then there why worry about it?  I put the standard plastic grips on my 75B military with the factroy screws and its fine.

I'm glad to hear your OEM screws worked.

By installing a grip panel and counting the turns until the screw was tight, I was able to reinstall the screw by itself to the same depth, and be able to see what was happening:

One screw just touches the mainspring when the gun is cocked, the other screw actually binds up the spring a little when cocking / decocking.

Has anyone else converted a Military 75 to standard plasic panels with OEM screws and found this situation?

Some filing using a mill bastard file, a folded piece of thin cardboard with a hole in it to hold the screw, some trial and error, and a touch of cold blueing, and the job is done.

Thanks to all,
