New (to me) CZ 82
« on: November 29, 2008, 09:30:39 AM »
I just received a CZ 82 with two magazines and holster from SOG. They said that they were all out of the "very good" ones, and most were just "good". I paid the extra for hand pick and it was delivered second day air to my house for a total of $205.95 (I have a C&R). The gun was much nicer than expected. I will try to post a pic or two if there is interest. After inspection, two magazines of FMJ were shot with no failures.

I got my CZ82 from SOG when they first started selling them.  This forum was great since it was the only place with knowledge about this style pistol since folks were posting about CZ83s.

My CZ82 from SOG has a rough finish. Not so much paint on the back of the grip and chips on the slide/frame.  It has always worked fine.

Read up on the slide spring so you don't lose it.  The retaining pin for the trigger assy falls out on mine with the grips off.  I should stake it some time.  This happened once and the slide spring got dislodged, but luckily not lost. There are a couple of after market sources for these mostly straight springs now. It is still a pain to put in.

You can get any part for yours except for the slide spring from CZ USA by calling them. I have rebuilt all of my mags with springs and followers that were like 3 for a spring and 1.50 for a follower if I remember right.

Here is a pic of the gun to give an idea of the what may be expected if you order one. Functionally it has been great. I bought it as a project gun to play with finishes.

Looks about par with the one I bought. Got the leather holster, 2 mags, and cleaning kit also.

Nice little gun and fits my hand like it was made for me.

I just wonder why a CZ82 nears being a hundred bucks more than a CZ52?

Probably the age differance between the two. Both are very nice guns, but the harder to find CZ-52 ammo (unless you convert it to 9mm) probably has something to do with it to. If both were the same price, I bet many would buy the one with the cheaper, more readily available ammo. When you make it more of a bargain price, then people will re-consider. Not that I would agree with that position, but I bet that goes through a lot of minds...

Not anymore. At least not from SOG which is one of the few places that still carries both. Also figure that the vz. 82 comes with 2 mags and a holster, to get that for the vz. 52 costs extra.

A week ago the difference between the two was ~$15.

I just got their monthly catalog in the mail. CZ82 is down to $180. Their CZ52 is up to $160 now. Add $15 for 2nd mag/holster and it's $175. Even at the price they still show on the website, by the time you add mag/holster you're at $165.

What? I can find 7.62X25 for a CZ52 way easier (and cheaper!) than 9mm Mak for my CZ82. ???
