Its ALIVE! New frankensonsobleepun!
« on: April 27, 2010, 12:11:26 AM »
I was shooting this weekend with my CZ40b and my compact .40, both function great and are accurate, but heres the thing- I bought tru glo sights for my compact .40 and there the wrong size so i shoot low with it and the CZ40b grip angle takes a few shots to adjust to after shooting other CZs so my accuracy suffers.
So i did the unthinkable, i dissambled both pistols and compared the slides and frames along with my cz40p which is a combination of the two anyways. I took the 40b slide and mated it to the frame of the compact .40 and it would stick if you pulled the slide all the way to the rear because the 40b guide rod is tapered down towards the bottom. So i took the guide rod off the compact .40 and used a original 40p spring and it function tested perfectly. I then loaded three different mags with 155 gr, 165 gr, and 170 gr fmjs and started shooting. 20 yards 155gr, 9 out of 10 center X's-bam- same distance 165gr, 9 out of 10 X's- bam- 170gr, stepped back 3 full steps 10 out of 10 x's -ITS A ALIVE! I thought to myself. I continued to shoot a 100 more rounds all with the same success. The center of the target was gone and there was only 9 shots out of the center and they were all 9s. I just created a all steel, kick butt, .40 caliber monster. And then it happened, 2nd to the last full mag, the slide came back after a shot and stayed back, i tapped it forward with the palm of my hand and nothing. Got a screwdriver out of my shooting bag and tapped the slide with the plastic handle and it went forward. Thats when it hit me-dummy- i didnt have the plastic bushing over the spring and guide rod like on a CZ 40p. So I stopped for the day.
So here where I stand- with a new flgr -cut to length and the right circumference, a new 20 lb recoil spring -cut to length and a new guide rod bushing like on the CZ 40p, I should be on to something. I mean ive never shot this accurate with any firearm ever, the weight soaks up all the recoil, the sights are dead on and the mags all feed flawlessly.
Now I'm not writing this bragging, or suggesting that anybody else try this or even looking for advice. I am writing this is to Praise the marvel of CZ ,the gun company, with the vision to have made the CZ 40p out of left over and new parts. They have inspired me to take a chance on their engineering and to make a dead on monster pistol! CZs ALIVE

PICS coming soon, want to get everything just right. Just bought a 40b upper out of the classifieds here and will be able to make it a permament fixture now. Bear with me for a little longer.

Got the 40b top end in today and everything mates up fine with the .40 compact lower. Will try to get in some trigger time this weekend, along with some pics. This looks to be very promising.
