Best place to buy an 85 combat?
« on: March 13, 2002, 03:13:49 PM »
I just bought a new 85 combat and love it, 600 rounds so far and not one problem using cheap ass blazer ammo. I got this gun at SPS Guns in Carrollton, Tx and paid $512.00 for it. My problem is that since I got this one my wife wants one as well. she shoots better with my new 85 than with her Glock 17c. All you guys seem to know where to get these things for a great price and I would like to save some money on the second one if I can.

Hey, try this guy out. He is located outside Atlanta. He can do an FFL transfer. I paid $439 plus tax(7%) for mine.

I dont think you can get the nickel or dual tone anymore, He does have blued.

Got 1 two tone and 2 satin nickle CZ 85 Combats from Tom Harris at Sporting Arms in Lewisville.  He can get you nearly any gun you want and his prices are always the lowest I have found (less than or equal to those at gun shows).

He is absolutely honest and reliable.  Got my 3 CZs for me in a couple of days.  Price was $470.83 out the door ($439+ 7.25% Lewisville tax).

Haven't seen any CZ 85 Combats are the gun shows (well there was 1 two tone NIB at the Colt dealer's booth a while back but I bought that one which is what led me to purchase three more).

I buy all my guns from Sporting Arms now unless I have a gun I need to trade in.  In that case I would go to Gun Master in Plano (off of Avenue K by the SAMS, a new location).  They have some of the best retail prices and have great trade values (Bullet Trap trades and SPS are THE WORST) and also sell on consignment for 15%.

I would NOT recommend purchasing from SPS again due to their high prices and non-existant customer service (after the sell).  I purchased 2 guns from them because I couldn't find them anywhere else and didn't know about Sporting Arms.  Live and learn.  Friendly enough folks though.

As a side note, if the prices have gone up higher than $470 and you want to save some money, I am selling one of my satin nickles.  It has been to the range only once.  I am asking $425 for it and it has all the original stuff with it (box, manual, 2 mags, etc).    It is one of the ones I purchased from Sporting Arms.   I do require that you have a Texas DL/CHL.   I live in Carrollton so if you're interested just send me an email.   I could meet you at The Bullet Trap if your wife would like to see it and test it out.

Got my newest Shotgun News this evening.

On page 51, in an ad for The Dealer Warehouse (209/545-2800, in Modesto California), they advertise two-tone CZ-85 Combats (with 2 ten round mags) for $359.95, with $10 for shipping and handling.

Get one of your local FFLs to give you a license for the transfer, and pay them their handling fee when it arrives -- or just get them to order it for you.

That's about as good as it gets.

That price sounds too good to be true.  Might be worth looking into although I don't know anything about The Dealer Warehouse.  Sometimes there are some good deals to be found.

If you decide to purchase from The Dealer Warehouse you might still want to give Tom Harris/Sporting Arms a call because I believe he charges $15 to receive the gun for you (transfer fee) which is one of the cheapest in the Carrollton area that I have found.

Good luck.

Space Kadet,
They did not take out a mag from my purchase. Put I made sure to check and asked for the mags. I had a dealer do the same thing with Springfield a while ago. That ticked me off.

So if you ask, it will be two?
I noticed, like another poster here, that the CZ connection has different "deals" on their pistols as advertised at gunbroker.com .
Some of it seems to be in the wording, and descriptions.
I would like to purchase one from them in the future, but feel uneasy about the possibility of boxes being opened and having only one mag, etc.
It reminds me of paintball retailers who alter what comes w/ a PB gun from the factory, and especially when buying a "package". I know sooooo many people who have been burned that way...

                                            Good Shooting,

It might have helped that I went into the store. I live here in Atlanta, so I stopped in. If you call the number and ask, the owner, Phil, should be able to let you know if there are two mags in case. It should come with the two mags from factory, thereor you should be able to buy it that way. That would really disapoint me if a mag was pulled. That is a big draw on the price for me.
I hope you lik yours, I need find some time to shoot some more. It is so much better then my golf game.

I purchased a CZ75B from Phil at CZ Connection through Gunbroker.com.  Used the buy now option to purchase the gun for $299.  Drove from Augusta, GA to Lawrenceville, GA to pick up the gun.  when I went to pay for it, Phil opened the box, took out the hi-cap and told me that was the only way he could sell the gun at that price.  Maybe I should have read the sale description a little closer, maybe I didn't check close enough, but I was P.O.ed!  bought the gun anyway, had to have a 75B, but if you buy from Phil, check to see what you're going to receive for the price quoted.  I personally will never buy anything from CZ Connection again, either I'll order my next CZ locally or order it from Young's Guns in Tennessee.
