All,
I am a new member, I have been doing some lurking though. I would like to add my thoughts concerning my new 85 combat.
First, I am a southpaw. The 85 was the model I needed. The reason I chose the Combat was the additional mag, the ambi controls and as my finger felt awkward on the regular model triggers (the trigger angles too far forward... does anyone else have this issue. I think I have big hands also.) the adjustable trigger. Plus the dual tone finish.
Took it to the range. at the 25 line I fired a clip from my FEG HP clone, then started with the CZ. Some initial thoughts.
Clip is tight to load, but loosened quickly.
Safe is perfect, I do want a decoker though.
Slide release on right side was great.
comfortable grip and trigger reach.
Heavy recoil, slippery grips, almost popped out of my hand.
So, first clip was very inacurate;. All over the place.
Put another clip in and adjusted my triger finger pressure to a slower squeze, and a tighter grip with offhand.
Better, put a few in the ten. Next clip, first 4 rounds one big hole dead center! I got excited and put 5 out of next 6 in center with the flyer just out in the nine ring. New clip, new target, better results, 10 out of 10 in the 10!!
Can you fall in love with an inanimate object.
Some afterthoughts .... Hogue Grips. Need to improve grip without tightening hands and pulling off target. Got them for $22. Cant wait to try them at range. Will let you all know what I find out. Stripping this baby was a snap. Cleaning was a breeze, nickel finish cleans up well.
I never had me a fancy gun.
I got the 85 combat because I was thinking of competing in IDPA or IPSC comps. What class would it fall in and what do you think of its abilities in the class.
