CZ 455 varmint arrived
« on: February 07, 2011, 12:40:17 AM »
I had ordered a 455 American and they accidently shipped a 455 varmint thumbhole.  Well I fell in love with this the moment I picked it up. They even dropped the price significantly to avoid re-shipping.  I have not seen this model very much outside of the U.K. and Australia and have found no literature on N.A. sites.   It has a .862 diam barrel 20 1/2" long and with my bushnell legend scope on it , it weighs a hefty 8 3/4 lbs.  Finish is flawless and upon removing the barrel, its a snug fit with no play in it BEFORE the set screws are tightened.  Can't wait for the crummy weather to stop here as I tried to shoot in 20F with stiff blowing wind and I didn't do so great.  The trigger was pretty heavy but no creep and it broke like an icicle.  I'm pretty confident this baby will shoot well and will post my results when the weather clears up and gives it a chance to show what its got.

Here are a couple pics of it

Congrats on your new addition.  I look forward to your post after trying it out.  Oh..and..nice slippers. ;D

You made a jealous man out of me.  Is there a way to get this model in the states.  I seen it on the czub site but nowhere else.  I would love to upgrade to this as all i have now is a junktastic savage mkII g.  bare bones basic and I always get a first round flier.  Once shes warmed up though I can easily get 1 inch groups at 50 yds.  Good enough for squirrels i guess.  Great looking gun there.

I'm not sure if it is available in the States yet, I didn't even see anything here in Canada about it and it was just a fluke that I got it.  I must say that the thumbhole stock might not be suitable for people with medium to small hands.  I have large hands with long fingers and the trigger is perfect distance for the pad of my finger to reach but might be a stretch for those with shorter fingers.   I'm wondering if this is common for thumbhole stocks or maybe just this model?   With sub zero temperatures here I am depressed that I can't go to the range.

Does anyone know if we are able to get just the varmint profile barrels for 455s in the States?
