2010 CZ 97b
« on: February 18, 2011, 03:44:44 PM »
I just yesterday purchased my 2010 CZ 97b black polycoat pistol.  Ive been looking for one in Washington for almost two years and finally found one.  I am concerned with a couple of areas on the pistol that just dont seem normal, and am hoping for some insight.  I noticed, once i got home, that on the feed ramp there is a cut into the right side.  Its deep enough for me to wonder how it could have left the factory.  the other area is on the inside of the slide.  Im not a pistol smith so I don't know what this area is called but about 1.2 inches back from the muzzle on the inside the raised portion of the slide lowers slightly and at that spot there is metal folded over and is tin can lid sharp about oh half a millimeter in height and covers a quarter inch area.  All in all the pistol is NOT as nice on the INSIDE as my 85b 2008 make I bought last year.  I have pictures to post if someone could tell me how to.  Has anyone come to find their recent CZ pistol purchase to be similar to mine.  After a 2 year quest to find one I am slightly enraged.

pictures needed to be hosted on another site, like photobucket or image shack.  you save the pick there and then use the one of the buttons on top to "insert image" link.  fyi, alot of boards are like this so practice.

pictures are worth a thousand words.

im not sure about your "cut" on the feed ramp.  are you sure it isnt a scratch or sometype of mark?  its not to say something couldnt have gouged the ramp, but w/o pictures we can only guess.

with regards to the inside of the slide, you will find that they arent finished as compared to other mfg.  one thing about comparing things is that they are different guns and they are most likely finished by different people.  also the procedures maybe different.  who knows.   if you dont like the sharp edge, then either 1.  contact CZ and have let them know and have them fix both issies if they are issues.  2.  do the deburring yourself 3. have a local gun smith do it.  or 4.  live with it.

and no, all of my CZs have been great.  the finish on the inside will vary with whats going on internally with CZ, but in general im happy.

im surprised it took 2 years to find a CZ97 in Washington "state"?

if youre not happy with it, then why dont you send it back or return it?  you waited 2 years, another few days/months/years isnt going to make a dif.  it will come down to how "enraged" you are tho.

Bang Bang thanks for the response.  This is the first forum I've joined and fealt it right since i have a few CZs now.  I cleaned up the inside of the slide, just didnt expect that bonus to be there.  I will call into CZ-USA about the gouge out of the feed ramp.  Ive had great experiences with the customer service dept.  Yes I live in Washington State and i called a few shops here and there and frequent cabelas and never came accross a 97b, the other id like to find and cant the P07 in 40.

As an update for all who have viewed these posts and for future viewers, I've gotten the ball rolling finally.  I'm a long haul trucker so this matter has been a little tough.  The pictures were on my Fiance's camera and she had to upload those to her laptop to email them to me so I could email them to Matt at CZ-USA, which was done 2 days ago.  I today spoke to another Matt and I now have the address to send in the slide and barrel.  He stated he'll basically be recutting the ramp and reshaping it which will help it feed, and remove that nick. He'll also go through the slide and debur it.  I asked turn around time and he said about 1 week which is excellent in my opinion.  I also mentioned my 85b 2008 model has the same issue on the inside of the slide and he said send that too he'll clean it up.  1 week for 2 pistols.  Really nice guys working their I must say.  I'll update again to verify turn around time and the final outcome.  Lastly, no out of pocket expense except for shipping.

I'm surprsed how many views this post has gotten.  Please people feel free to add your experiences.  That is the whole point of this for me.  This is another update.  Last week I talked to two Matts.  The second one told me to send in my slides and barrels on my 97b and 85b.  After the call I realized I wasn't told how to ship them in.  Well I called in this past monday I spoke to Niel who told me completely different info.  He said to call back in with the serial numbers of both pistols so he could do an ra number and work out the shipping, and that I needed to send the complete pistols and a mag for both.  It's frustrating to get new instructions but they sounded legit.  I called in the next day with the serial numbers and Niel said he misspoke and to just send in the complete slides.  He emailed me a shipping label and my Fiance is putting the package with fedex tonight.  I've had the shipping label for 2 days now so I'm kind of lagging but so far from first post to now I've been working on this and am this far.  Almost there folks.  Matt #2 said 1 week turn around.

I got the fedex tracking info on my slides this morning so they're being shipped out today.  Since I won't be home to receive the package I asked the guy who worked on them (who requested to remain anonymous) what he found and did.  On the 97 he got that gouge out of the feed ramp and reshaped the feed ramp.  He also smoothed out the inside of the slide and removed the burrs.  With the 85 the barrel was polished and there were cross cuts that were smoothed out.  Thank you CZ-USA.  I'll get some pics up as soon as I can get a load home.
