grip question for 97b
« on: November 18, 2005, 01:41:51 PM »
Has anyone noted any difference of the thickness of the grip frame metal on their 97b from one year to the next?

The reason I ask is a while ago I had a set of grips made for my 97b from a very reputable person and the grips fit fine on his pistol but on mine the wood of the grip extended too far into the mag well and prevented the magazine from going in.  I had to sand the back of the grips to get it to fit correctly.  Its not really a big deal but it makes me wonder if the earlier models (mine is from 97) had a thinner frame.

Mitch.

I am wondering whom are you talking about. :)

I had chance to compare thickness of metal on several CZs.
There is a difference. But I can't connect it with dates of manufacturing.
Also, there is difference in thickness of poly coating and blueing (sp?).

Anyhow I had to know better, sorry for inconvenience Mitch

No worries,

The grips are beautiful and once they were sanded a bit they fit fine.  I dont really think there is any way you could have known mine was thinner.  I guess the only way to prevent it would be to make all the grips so they fit the thinner frame.  They should fit the thicker either way.

Thank you Mitch.
I just want to demonstrate the difference.
below are the pictures of measurements I took from the different sides of one frame.

And next one is another frame. I could not use my caliper, but I think the difference is obvious

Thats about as thick as two sheets of paper. Thats not a big diference but I guess it is enough.
