I tried something today, strictly on impulse, and was pretty pleased with the overall result at 15 & 25 yards.
First, I fired my Sig P250, which is DAO, with some hot .40's. Four mags with 10 in each. As usual, the piece performed without a hitch, and went where I wanted it to most of the time. (I always manage to "throw away" a couple)
Then I fired my Para P12 Ltd with the same setup, same results, although the new front sight is not set up for close proximity, shooting at about four inches low at 15 yards. Easy fix will be on where I hold.
Then I fired the Witness Match. After using the SA and DAO triggers, the first round went off almost by itself, as did the 2nd. The Witness trigger is about 3.5 pounds, and the gun is way more accurate than I am. But that light trigger gave me some real food for thought when changing from one weapon to another.
What grabbed me about this shoot was, I need to do this more often. I've said before that I alternate carry weapons to keep in tune with ergonomics for CCW, and today proved it. In the middle of the night, in the car, in the work shop, I may be grabbing one weapon or another, and if I'm not "tuned in" to the feel and trigger operation, it could have some sad results.
Lesson learned.
