Ya, I hear ya.  I should stop complaining about having ammo choices....could be worse.  While I like the reliability and brass case of the mil surp stuff....I'm glad I'm not dealing with the corrosive primers.

Awesome! I told my 10 year old he gets to shoot the vz-58 and the 527 next time out. He was jumping up and down...

That's the first time he's shot the 11.75" without a brake. It was louder than I like for my kids with it on.

FWIW, that pic was yesterday afternoon. We still have waist deep snow at the range.

Stocks likely not staying like it is in the pics.....obviously it needs a lot of finish work in terms of cleaning up the radiuses and filing/sanding corners/edges....but the cheek piece, while very comfortable; isn't practical.  It adds a pound to the stock and the thing I like most about the VZ is the light weight, so I'll be cutting that loose and doing the finish work after that.  I'm contemplating machining some Delrin or UHMWPE or similar to make a cheek piece/riser that bolts to the stock to keep the weight down.

Just under 2 lbs.  Without the tube....it's a pound.  Obviously, the tube is going bye-bye.

Actually, with it SBR'd it weighs 0.1 lb less than my full 16" bbl'd VZ with that stock on it.

Well, installed the Dlask XB2 and went to the range.  It did seem to improve backpressure on my gun with Golden Tiger....but it still didn't run reliably.  I had about 3 stovepipes per 20 rounds.....as opposed to 6 or more with the modified J-Tac I normally run.  It ran Brown Bear with no issues....just like the J-Tac does.  For the added length and weight of the XB2.....I'll just go with the J-Tac and avoid GT ammo.

Just wanted to give an update in case anyone else has a VZ SBR that won't run GT....from what I can tell with my bbl length and port size, the XB2 will not solve your problem so save the $110 or so.

Is Golden Tiger the brass-cased stuff?

FWIW, I mic'd the 5 pistons (installed and spares) and they all came out within .02mm diameter. Sounds like that one you had was a lemon.

Golden Tiger is steel-cased; Golden Bear is brass coated steel; Yugo mil-surp is brass-cased and corrosive.

Agreed.  The undersized piston I had was a fluke....but the inability of VZ SBRs to run GT seems to be commonplace as Dan told me his won't reliably run it either. 

I wonder how Czechpoint will deal with that issue if they do release the 7.62x39 pistol they have planned.  If the D-Technik pistol won't run GT and an AK Draco will.....I can't imagine that would be a good thing for the platform.  Hopefully they can get that issue squared away before a release to the American market or you're going to hear all sorts of uneducated people say the VZ is junk.

PS.  and GT is steel cased as Rainier mentioned.  You're thinking of Golden Bear with the brass coating.
