cz 527 mag problem
« on: May 26, 2009, 11:54:38 AM »
I have a .223 cz527 but the round is very very difficult to chamber from the magazine,it actually scraps and scores the brass just loading a round from the mag to the chamber using the bolt.If i try and use the bolt smoothly it does not work and it has to be rattled and shoved to chamber the round.makes a tikka t3 look like a custom gun in comparison. can anyone help..

Try pushing the rear of the bolt forward instead of using the bolt handle.  If this works smoothly then do it that way until all the parts get mated to one another.  Dennis

I just got a .223 CZ 527 and have experienced no feeding problems. It's just a guess, but I would suspect a problem with the magazine.

Mine has the old style magazine that protrudes down to the bottom of the trigger guard and holds five rounds, I have no experience with the new style, if that's what you have got.

New guns will tend to be a bit stiff...  As the last poster suggested, the problem may work itself out with some more use.

Some things to check:

Does the bolt cycle smoothly back and forth with no magazine in place? If so, that would point to the magazine or magazine port as the culprit.

Has the magazine been dropped or damaged?

Have you had the action out of the stock? - I have heard that it is possible to put the magazine port into a bind while putting the action back into the stock, causing it to act funny until you take it apart and give it another try, paying extra attention to how the action and magazine port mate up with each other. - Perhaps someone more knowledgeable than I am can explain this better, my memory is poor.

As a last resort, try to borrow another magazine, or ask the dealer to check feeding with another magazine to see if that's the problem. It's best though if you can try to work it out on your own, first.

Good luck, and let us know how it goes, yea or nay. I think that with a little TLC, you will be quite pleased with your 527.

the spring in the mag may be reversed. I did that by mistake and same happened to me, only i knew where the problem comes from cause i didn't remember the exact position of mag spring when dismantling it for oiling.
Hope that solves your problem too!

Rounding the undersides of the magazine lips seems to work, as does opening the lips slightly at the front.

A good shot at close range beats a 'hit' at a longer range.
