Hello CZ stainless forum. Thanks for all the informative posts, they helped finalize my decision of making my first 9mm a CZ 75B stainless. I'm new to the firearms world and only have mild experience with my Browning Buckmark .22.

I will be picking up a NIB CZ 75B stainless sometime soon and was wondering if it should be cleaned and oiled before it gets fired for the first time. The gun shop gives me a complimentary 30 minutes at the shooting range with the purchase. This is not a question about controlling the urge or not. I can always come back to the range later. I would like to know the forum's general opinion on what the gun comes like from the factory regarding its optimal readiness for firing.

Thanks in advance.

JC

Definitely need to be taken apart and cleaned before firing. CZ's are packed so they can spend some shelf time without rusting etc so you need to do a good cleaning before you fire it.
When did it change from "We the people" to "screw the people"?

Why use 911 when it's faster to use 1911 or 9mm?

Hello Piojovet, welcome to the forum and congrats on your new pistol.  Take care of that 75 and it will out live you.

By all means prior to firing, strip the pistol and have it cleaned.  CZ often puts a lot of oil and preservatives in their pistols for long term storage.  If you are not familiar with field stripping your pistol, ask someone in the shop for assistance.  They will likely assist you to maintain good relations for future sales.  Let us know how you make out.

Thanks for the quick responses. I have extensively studied the field stripping process thanks to all the info on the forum. Might sound weird, but I get as much enjoyment out of cleaning my .22 than from firing it.
I will definitely post a photo of my first target with the CZ.
Thanks again.

Sounds like your brain is oriented like a mechanic/engineer. I too enjoy taking things apart and working with precisely machined pieces of metal.

When I was younger I did tool and die work and other precision machining. Although it didn't provide the living that being a computer systems analyst (which I did for 25 yrs) it provided more satisfaction.

It is not being weird.

I like playing with me "toys" also. All these firearms are, are toys for grownup (well sorta grownup) boys.  :)

I just got a CZ 75 stainless, did not clean before shooting and it worked fine,  up to 300 rounds now and do not plan on cleaning till after next range session, which should put me at 500.

I did take it apart to give it a once over, and ran a patch through the barrel, and put a little oil on it before shooting.  So I guess I kinda cleaned.

SO I would advise, you do not have to clean it. You should make sure bore is clear (run a patch or plastic brush) through it.  Does not hurt to oil or clean it if you like.

Be a Rebel!  Swab the bore and blast away!  Wisdom says this and that, but guess what, you ain't gonna hurt it as long as the barrels clear.  And what are you goona do when you get your new gun home?  Clean it anyway. O0
