Holsters for other auto loaders ???
« on: January 23, 2004, 06:39:24 PM »
I'm looking for feedback from fellow CZ owners. What holsters that are not designed for the 97B, still work well with the 97B? Looking to expand options and possibly save a bit of cash also.

                                                    Thanks.

I'm guessing ones for the Beretta 92 or 96 might work if you can reshape the muzzle end of the holster past where the Beretta's dust cover ends.

I doubt it.  I have a Fobus holster for the Beretta, and my 97 wouldn't even come close to getting into that holster.  (The 75B fit it just about right.)

If you don't what an HBELeatherworks custom holster, you can consider the Safariland 560 works... and I use it for a lot of different guns.  It's my IDPA holster.  (This picture is from the Safariland website.)  It will likely cost more than one of Eric's, though.

Yeah Walt, but I was thinking of a leather holster when I wrote the above, maybe it wouldn't work though. I thought of it because I have a Safariland for the Beretta 92 that I got used that my 97B almost fits in, except for the molded Kydex under the leather at the muzzle end. Works ok for my 40B and my Jericho .45 though.

BTW, I just got a 560 to use for my first IDPA meet on sunday.

Adjust a screw or two, and that holster will work with your 97B, too.   The 75B,  40B and Jerichos are quite a bit narrower than the 97B -- and while leather can (and will) stretch, it would be a big stretch to get it to accept a 97B.

Has any one tried the holsters fitted for the H&K USP .45ACP?

Walt, no problem fitting any semi-auto I have in the 560. But the holster I was talking about above is a used Safariland 295 designed specifically for the Beretta 92 that I couldn't pass up even though I don't have a 92 because it was only $10. It's molded Kydex sandwiched in leather with a belt loop, thumbreak, and trigger guard retention system.

Also, My Jericho .45 is the same width as my 97B (the slides even fit the other's frame) but shorter, being considered a semi-compact. The 40B's dust cover is actually about 1/8" wider than the 97B's but the slide is narrower and about a half inch shorter, and the dust cover is 3/4" shorter than that. They both fit the holster reasonably well which is why I guessed that a leather holster could be adapted.

Sorry Lizardbone, I've never tried a holster for an HK.

I wasn't thinking Jericho .45 when I replied.  (And I guess the 40B *is* pretty wide, too, isn't it?  I don't have one any more.)

The Magnum Research guns are also heftier on the front end, too, as I've found with my new Asai 1 Pro -- which while made in Switzerland is basically a MR gun.

You might try heating the holster in the oven or with a strong heat gun.  That allows the plastic to stretch a bit and you might be able to get it to fit without much effort.  (If you know anyone with a commercial-grade heat gun for removing floor tiles, that work.  I've got one I'd loan you if you were nearby...)

Thanks Walt, I appreciate it, but I have the 560 to use for the 97B. BTW do you know if the 97B will fit in "The Box" for IDPA? I'm guessing that it might be too tall with the mag inserted.

Walt the Fobus Holster for the Glock 21 Model GL-3, will work for the 97B if you widen the trigger guard slot slightly. Also I Carry my 97B in an Old leather Safariland High ride on Duty. It was made for a 1911 so I soaked it in warm water for a couple of Hours wrapped my 97 in plastic wrap and Forced it into the Holster, Once the holster was dry I redyed it and siliconed the lining, and it works great for Cocked and Locked carry. Note this can't be done with the new Laminate holsters.
Other than that you can give Eric (%%WORD74%?) a try at
