CZ100 vs S&W M&P
« on: April 08, 2007, 05:43:29 PM »
Is it just me or doesn't the S&W M&P look kinda like the CZ100??

I WOULD BUY A CZ100 TODAY (even with the bad trigger ) IF CZ WOULD GET THERE ACT TOGETHER AND EITHER CHANGE THE RAIL OR COME OUT WITH A REASONABLE PRICED LIGHT FOR THE EXISTING RAIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We had a M&P 40 come back into the office from a LE T&E.  It appeared that the department put less than 2 mags through the gun.  When it was priced out, I decided to purchase it ... the price was just too good to pass up.

If you put the CZ 100 and the M&P 40 side by side, dimensionally there is not that much difference at all.  In the length of the grip, it's about 3/8".  Yet, the M&P 40 fully loaded is 15+1.  Add the smallest palm swell to the M&P 40 and the overall grip seems smaller than the CZ 100.

There's not that much difference in the length of the slide, either.  About 1/4".

Took the M&P 40 to the range yesterday and it's an accurate pistol.  With a standard rail, too.

If the M&P has a half-way decent trigger, that's "different" enough for me.

I had problems with my M&P 9. The stainless slide is softer then the barrel and there was peening of the slide in the area of the barrel hood.  I sent it to S&W and they replaced the entire slide assembly under warranty.  I got rid of the gun shortly there after, better safe then sorry. I never saw wear like that happen to a gun before. Round count was low too, about 1500 rounds only.  If you own a M&P make sure you inspect the areas where the barrel mates with the slide during lock up. I think there is a bit too much play as the tolerances are loose which translate to rapid wear.  Just an FYI.
