Vz2008 gas block
« on: June 21, 2011, 06:29:39 PM »
I noticed during my last cleaning that my gas block is slanted to the left a little bit?  Is that normal.  If not can it be adjusted to line up with the front sight post.  Also, has anyone added the side rail to their vz2008 successfully?  If so could you let me know how you did it.

I was on Czechpoint's sight and realized I made a mistake.  I meant the gas adapter.  It's at an angle and I have a theory.  I think others have the same issue and just haven't noticed yet on their vz2008s.  The reason I say that is after 100 rounds my piston return spring was in pieces.  I was reading other posts and seeing other people having that spring crumble, I think it's because the gas adapter is crooked on theirs.  I see Czechpoint sells gas assorted so you have to be able to take it off.  Could someone who's done it inform me how to.  I fear that the barrel may be in wrong and that's why the gas adapter is crooked.

I don't know what a "gas adapter" is but if your gas block is a bit canted and your rifle still runs, it's not a problem. It won't make your piston spring crumble.

If you take it off and straighten it, you may find the gas port is no longer lined up properly with the gas block.

Remove the pin from the gas block to adjust it's cant.

On Czechpoint's site what I thought was called the gas block on the rifle is called the gas adapter.  Thanks for the reply Stevo.

I'm leaving the gas block alone.  I ordered a spring from Czechpoint and was sent a free one from century.  They are different.  They aren't the same color and the century spring was a coil longer.  I'm using the one from Czechpoint and haven't had any problems in the 100 rounds fired since installation.  I am shooting about 8 inches low and 4 inches to the left.  Has anyone used the front sight tool on Czechpoint's sight with good results?  It costs way more than the ak front sight tools on other sites and was wondering if it's worth the price.

I have a Magna-Matic sight tool. Absolutely the best one out there.
