CZ52 Holster Material
« on: August 23, 2011, 07:41:05 AM »
Can anyone tell me what kind of leather was used in making the original military holsters?

I have several CZ52's with original holsters.  The leather(s) are not the same for all of them.
It seems at one time I was told they were made from pig skin.  Is this true?

It was a pale, natural calf skin full grain or split grain leather.  From the pictures I've seen, the Czech Army traditionally uses that pale buff colored leather for all belts, holsters, etc.  You can see a couple of pictures of the original issue holsters at:

The holster that came w/ mine was a burgundy colored pig skin. Don't know if that was an original military issue holster, or just what the importer got with their shipment of pistols.
