Fabric Lined Kydex Holsters
« on: May 25, 2011, 01:56:18 PM »
I (too) am looking for kydex/polymer holsters for

1. CZ75 TS
2. CZ75 P07 Duty
3. CZ75 SP01 Shadow

for competitive shooting purpose. I like the bladetechs at czcustom, but would definitely prefer fabric lined (very dusty/sandy conditions). Would appreciate input here.

How do these compare with the Bladetech, as far as usage goes?  I just picked up the Bladetech, but I sure would like something with a softer lining.

BT- has the loosest fit and the lowest front cut; but it probably also translates into the quickest draw.  It also wears out your slide finish.

AA - has a tight-fit and not sure whether it will loosen over time; has the highest front cut. Has a suede lining that minimizes wear on slide finish; it's also the reason why it has a tight fit.

STC - has a relatively custom fit, which has less lateral room; the front cut is between BT and AA.  The lining is made out of leather that is bonded to a kydex shell. It is definitely the best looking and fabrication of the three.  Of course, it's also the most expensive.

My 0.02:

If the holster is fabric or fabric lined (even if it's leather or so) and one is to use it in VERY DUSTY enviro - you will get VERY pronounced gun's finish wear due to dust getting collected in fabric and acting as abrasive substance against gun's finish.

BT Kydex is on the other hand is very easy to clean. Brush and wet cloth (it'll dry up quick if in hot dusty enviro) or just brush and dry terry cloth or so..

Cheers,
e.

Thank you for your feedback guys :)

@Cesar, you are correct, but i want to delay the wear on the finish as long as possible, and hence need lined kydex.
I was thinking of applying my own modified lining of soft fabric in a kydex holster. Now, which fobus, blackwawk or safariland holster can I get for the TS and the Duty? I know there is none specific for these...

I didnt want to spend too much on systems like:

http://www.opticsplanet.net/safariland-competition-holster-system-013-853-121.html#

But I think for real competitive stuff, that's the way to go, at least for the TS. Any experience with this, compared to CR-Speed or ghost holsters for Tactical Sports?

Have a look at the Safariland custom fit model# 567/8
not  kydex but a laminate just got one my self, fits a few different guns with a few turns of an allen key
mine fits both my CZ  phantom and my XD Tactical and I'm sure plenty of others( they claim 100)
cost me $50

I am not a big +1 kind of person but I agree 100% with this. I have a leather lined kddex holster and I quit using it I go with bladtech. It actually wears less then the lined one. I cant imagine lining a Fobus holster. It is hard enough to get a gun out of one with out taking up more space. Fobus holsters in my opinion are inexpensive for a very good reason.

Good Luck enjoy competition. it is very very fun!

I did my holster research last year and I came to a few conclusions.

1. Kydex holsters love to scratch your finish.
2. Leather holsters are not stiff enough and cause drag when you draw.
3. Fabric lining and suede lining can act like sandpaper if your holster collects oil and sand.

I finally discovered a holster called the Silent Thunder Champion. It is currently sold by Garret Industries. It is a little pricey but I have been using them for most of this year and I have enough for all of my pistols at the moment and they can come in Coyote Brown. I also had them create a mold for the CZ 75 SA so that my shadow would have a nice place to stay comfortable between stages. The inside is made of tough yet smooth leather which gives me a nice steady draw without any silly buttons or retention devices yet stay secure when the gun holstered. I have drawn my CZ from this holster a few hundred times so far and the only scratches on the gun came from me installing new parts :(.

Here is his website.

thankyou for the feedback guys.

I may get a double alpha, crspeed, or perhaps a bladetech for the tac sport some day soon.
