welcome,

pics are worth a thousand words.....and would give the people in the know a better idea on what your "transitional" is.

also, congrats on your new toy.

that looks like an current mfg 85 combat to me.  i dont see anything that says "transtion" but others may.

afa mods go, try shooting the gun first and then see what you want.  i dont mod my guns unless they came that way from some else other then grips.

they guy i bought it from told me it was a transitional model cause the date is 1991 and it came with the ambi safety and slide release? but you are right it does not say transitional which is why i am a little confused on it.

Looks exactly like my Combat manufactured in '96.

I bought mine used and haven't done anything to it besides shooting it.

I use round nosed ammo and it eats and ejects everything I've put in it.
I had the right to remain silent...

but not the ability.

Combats have no firing pin block like the pre-b pistols, and are ambidextrous as are all 85's. The Combat also has an LPA adjustable rear sight.

Transitional pistols are just that...they had features of both early and late pistols.

An 85B would be just like a 75B except ambi.

I don't know if there was a Combat with a round trigger guard, or even a model with a factory installed adjustable rear sight.

if you look at some of the stickies at the top of the boards, you will find great information as to whats what in the cz lineup of pistols.

there is no such cz product as the "transition/transitional" its something that was coined by someone.

if you care to enrich your knowledge on CZs, you can try amazon or whatever fav book search you can find and look for some cz books.  Ramos  has one out and he goes into some depth as to the internals and clones.

fyi,  heres a pic of a couple of my 85s.

the top one is considered by Ramos as an early  85 "combat".   note the adjustable rear sight.  DOB in oval is:  92

the bottom one is what i would call a 85 "transitional" not a combat either.  note the spur hammer not the ring hammer.  it also has the square trigger guard and no adjustable rear sight as mentioned earlier.  DOB in oval is: 91

this pic below is another 85 (not combat).  Note the round trigger guard and spur hammer.  It also has the epoxy finished lower with a blued upper.  I would call it an "transition" due to the more current Slide Release and Safely levers.   But the lower says early 75/85 to me due to the round trigger guard.  DOB on it says 87
