Buying cz100 tomorrow...
« on: November 12, 2002, 01:40:53 AM »
need to confirm/ask a few things:

1.  $315.00 US dollars @ MC Sports.  is that a good deal? anyone willing to sell cheaper?
2.  looked like their display model had red mag followers.  is there a mfg date after which these mags DIDN'T appear?
3.  how do i check the mfg date or test fire date?  is there a pattern to the serial # that will reveal this?  are "newer" 100's better than "older" ones?
4.  is the magazine catch ambidextrous?  meaning can i flip the catch so the button is on the right side?
5.  any other comments/warnings/inputs?

thanks,
-a

Hold off.  You'll be replacing the magazines.  The ones with red followers were found to be flawed.  $319-$329 is the usual range.

About 3/4" behind the ejection port there is a small indentation with a proof mark and two numbers.  Those numbers are the year of manufacture.

That's where I bought one last week, picked it up election day.  The $315 price was good till (I think) Nov. 16.  Their usual price is $325.

It doesn't look like the magazine catch is reversable.  Lefties will just have to make do, as usual.  It didn't seem that difficult to use my middle finger to operate it.

The test traget is in the gun's box, behind the foam.  There's a date on that.

I put 40 rounds through it Sat. without a hitch.  I got red follower magazines.  They're a bitch to load, but they work.  I'm seeing flecks of red follower plastic in the gun, so the followers are not real durable.  RSN I'll be calling CZ-USA re the magazines.

Takedown is supremely easy.  Follow the instructions in the manual.  If you pay attention to how it's working, you'll understand why the trigger feels the way it does (the last fraction of an inch when it gets hard, you're also pushing the firing pin block out of the way).

I'm a little concerned about the sear being just a angled cut in the stamped sheet metal trigger bar.  Don't know how durable that will turn out to be.  Ditto the plastic firing pin spring retainer.
