Ergonomics: CZ100 vs Glock
« on: October 20, 2002, 08:58:13 PM »
Well, Glock is the name to beat.  You see them on the hips of law enforcement officers everywhere, and every gun shop worth its salt stocks them.  You can get any bell or whistle you want for one, just like a 1911.  Only problem for me is that they feel like a 2x4 in my hand.  I know they shoot forever, and survive anything except the board-notorious KaBoom.  But I've traded off a number of them over the years.  When push came to shove, and dollars were needed for the next project, Glocks were disposable.  Foolish?  Maybe.  But I think this 9mm CZ100 of mine will stay around.  I want to replace the adjustable sight, as it seems bumpable on the rear of the slide.  Yeah, the trigger pull is long.  I read that as "safe".  I'm no expert, and I don't claim to be.  I've shot customized handguns that I wouldn't want to carry for fear of an accidental discharge.  I actually like the trigger on this CZ for real world carry.  And the double strike capability is a bonus.  Just my two cents.

While I'm not crazy about Glock triggers, I'm less enthusisastic about CZ-100 triggers.  (I do understand, however, tha[t] they get bette[r] with use.)

The best of both worlds, for me, would be to have a CZ-100 with a Glock trigger (given that you can't have the conventional DA/SA CZ trigger in that gun.)  That way you'd have OUTSTANDING ergonomics and an acceptable trigger.

(Whether you realize it or not, Glock triggers can be tuned.  I have several acquaintances who shoot Glocks in competition.  One, a nationally-ranked IDPA shooter, has a Glock with a trigger that feels almost 1911-ish when used.d  A friend has worked on his 34 until the trigger is about 2.5 pounds. The gun is very, very accurate.  (This second gun isn't a good carry gun; its competition only. The first gun is great for carry, too.)

Give me a CZ-100 like that, and I'd get it tomorrow.. urh, as soon as I had the money or could sell something.

If the topic is the only question...easy choice, for me the CZ is the winner.  Very few guns feel as good in my hands as my CZ's and although different than the rest..the CZ100 still fits very nicely.
As far as a general...which do you like or which would you take?  Both have merit....Ive played with a bunch of 100's at stores and shows, and rent one at a local range once in a while.  Its trigger is smoother than the "worst" Ive played with...some are worse than others.  But when actually shooting the gun the trigger seems to become a nonissue.
It doesnt effect accuracy of the gun and I dont even feel it really.
Shooting a G19...which is as close in size/caliber as youll find in a Glock..the ergonomics stay the same in all gens.  The angle of the grip is ok for target/practice shooting..but in a defensive situation...Im afraid I would shoot a tad high.  Glocks are deserving of their reputation in my mind...lots of great guns.  But most who are "glockers" tend to sware by them and typically concentrate on them..soley for defensive guns.  If thats your bag....cool...enjoy it.  But for me, I switch between carry guns and the Glock, while being a stellar gun, would totally screw up my "defensive mindset" until I got used to shooting the gun using gut reaction.  Even after I mastered it....Im still concerned that Id be thinking...."Ok what gun do I have on me?????....Glock? CZ? what?....the grip angle and triggers are that different.

For me the CZ is a worthy comparison to the Glock....while I own neither, Ive shot both and for feel in my hands...its the CZ.  Shoot well

I've had a Glock 23 and now own a 100. There is no comparison in the way they fit your hand. The CZ is the winner by a big margin. The Glock just felt boxy in my hand while the 100 just seems to feel like it was made for you. That plus the lower price of the CZ makes up my mind for me.

For the ergonomics, the CZ-100 is the only gun that fits the hand better then a CZ-75.  It beats the Grock all day...

However, I carry a Glock more then my -100 for one reson... I hate the casterated mags.  They look flimsy with the bandsaw cuts in them, and since it only holds 10 rounds, it is bigger then it needs to be.

I have to agree with Eric and his defensive mindset point of view. I've shot 1911 since 1971, alot, that's where my defensive mindset is. That's my natural angle for instant sight acquisition and the CZ100 is right there for me too. My friends Glock 19 in my hands shoots high or else I have to "hunt" for the sight picture in timed/rapid fire.
If you don't have any , I recommend the Hogue slip on grips, they're great. (they don't slip on real easy tho' you have to massage them on and might require some trimming , maybe even anchor them with a dab of cement but they feel good.)

I have both glock and just purchased the cz-100 and glock is by far superior to cz, just cannot compare the two.

Sounds like you got a hand that fits a Glock perfectly.  Mine doesn't...

(But I still like Glocks, despite that.)

There is no comparison, glock rules by far. Althought the cz-100 is nice, the trigger pull is ridiculous, even a joke.
So to me glock wins hands down!!!!!!! SOLD MY CZ100
which I just bought 4 weeks ago and bought another glock a G21 awesome and accurate. So you all enjoy your cz100's. I carry a GLOCK.

I had my CZ 100 out again today, and it fits in my hand perfectly, which is something I haven't found a glock to do. Feels natural and points extremely well. I have well over 1,500 rounds through my .40 caliber version, and even the trigger doesn't require a second thought.  It's not the same trigger as my CZ 75B, but I wasn't expecting it to be.

These are defensive/CCW handguns.  The fact that I would be limited to a 10 round magazine means more to me than the trigger pull.  Oh wait, I wouldn't spend $100 for a magazine, so I guess it doesn't matter...  :D

Seriously though, the main reason that I would get the CZ 100 over a Glock is that the CZ has a couple of features that I like: second-strike capability and the "tab" for racking the pistol one-handed.

Unless the CZ 100 is somehow totally different from every other CZ-UB pistol, the trigger should break in quite nicely.

shot 50 rnds through a glock 23 this past weekend.  i have small hands and i didn't feel confident with my grip on the gun.  i'm sure this could be ameliorated with custom grips, but stock for stock i like cz100 ergos better.
